New guy from Indiana (1971 cutlass s)
Hey guys my name is Paul. I live in Anderson Indiana. This car has been in my family for a while now. It was owned by my father when he was in high school, then when my parents got divorced in 1990 it was sold to my grandfather, and now 22 years later it's mine. It's a little rough, somewhere down the line the original motor was swapped to a 260 still paired with the th350. Anyways plans are to do somewhat of a restomod. Plans are 455 with th400. ReplCe the body panels that need it. Eventually track down a 442 hood. 442 grill, and replace the interior with black and paint the car blue. The frame and floor pans are actually in pretty good shape do not much work should need to be done there. Anyways on to pics and progress soon

Nice car. I don't know if he still has it, but a member here who goes by the id of Jensenracing has a ram air hood for sale and he's somewhere in Indiana too. You might be able to drive there and check it out in person.
My car was just like your's except it's green. I did all the changes that you're looking into and this is what mine looks like now.
Hopefully this will give you more incentive to restore your car. They are well worth it.

It does have the 71 headlight bezels. And my car had those grills and mine is a 71. Doesn't the 72 have the squared pattern in the grill?
I just noticed it has the rocket emblem in the stoneshield instead of the "S" like mine had. Mine has the rocket emblem now, though.
editted to add......I went out to the garage to look at my old grills and they are different than those ones. They have 4 lines, then one that sticks out further, then 4 more etc. There are 19 fins/lines in my grills. There are only 7 or 8 in these ones.

I'll get you guys the vin to decode but ya from what I've been told for years it's a 71. Thanks for the input so far. Is there any actuall resell for a running 260 or is pretty much a big paperweight?

Oops....I just realized you were talking about selling the 260, not the car. I haven't seen anyone say anything good about the 260 here, and this is Oldsmobile heaven.

Ya from what I gathered this is the breakdown on the vin:
3- Oldsmobile*
36- cutlass v8
87- 2 door holiday coupe
1- 1971
M- Lansing Michigan*
148366- 148,366th car off the line
I'm suprised that there is no way on the vin to see exterior color or anything. I'm not crazy about the brown on brown. But I havnt seen many brown interiors. This is is for the most part in pretty good shape. I just want it black.

By the way, the headlight bezels on your car are installed incorrectly. If you swap sides, they will look like the ones on your car's "twin" below .

Ha! I knew something looked funny about the bezels. I didn't realize they were upside-down.
I notice that car has the '72 rocket logo in the stoneshield instead of the "S" like the OP's car.
