New Guy from Florida 66 Cutlass

Hey guys Im Brandon and I am in Clearwater Florida. I recently bought a 66 Cutlass from a gentleman that had completely given up on the car. His intentions were to restore it but it is a very daunting task. Every panel on the car has rust including the A pillars. I bought the car because I could not see it get scrapped or ripped apart. Now that I have the car I thin I am going to have a hard time just finding the parts to replace what is rusted out. I just like the car so much that I sold my RX8 to daily drive this beast I figure this will also be a kick in the *** to get the project under way. It is a 455 with a turbo 400. It is a factory air car although it currently has none in it. Im new to the cutlass world so I am going to have to learn as I go so if you guys have any links to things I should know or online sources for parts it would be very much appreciated. Also if there is anything you would like to know about the car I would be happy to answer anything I can.

Im a transplant to Florida. I am originally from Grapevine Tx.

Im absolutely in love with the car. I say everyday I am going to sell the car and just buy a mustang and build a car for a 1/4 of the price. I just need to get some immediate stuff done so that my wife will even sit in the car (A/C and new interior).

edit: also has anyone had any luck using VFN fiberglass parts (Fenders ect)?

Question: My 66 also has the body side moldings but much higher up on the sides just below the midline of the body.
Any of you Old's gurus know why the difference? I've seen them low like this on 67's. I also have a 66 AMT model that shows the lower ones. What determines which you get?

Welcome to CO, There is a guy on Busch Blvd. that has a lot of Oldsmobile stuff. I can't remember the name of the place but it's neat Busch Gardens.

Didn't the F-85's come with the lower trim and the Cutlass the mid panel trim? My 66 F-85 has the trim like his car. Are you sure its a Cutlass?

My F85 Deluxe has the center hood trim/spear but not sure if that was an option you could order. Oh we need more pictures that is just a tease shot! :-)

Didn't mean to hijack the thread but I think what's been said is correct. Mine is definitely a Cutlass with the hood spear and the midline molding.

Haha you guys are awesome. I have no idea if it is an f-85 or not. I'm sure you guys know a lot more than me about it. I just went by what the seller and title said. This car is ROUGH but there is something about the car that begs me to throw all of my money at it. I think I am just going to have a hard time finding body parts for this car, namely things like the previously mentioned a pillars. Cutlassefi let me buy lunch time so I can pick your brain about these cars and the dog's and don'ts
