New cutlass owner

I live in Kansas city just got a 72 cutlass from my dad, he's had it sitting around for years. Runs and drives but needs a lot of work. Already stockpiling parts just waiting to get it all titled before I drive it to the shop.

Looks like it's got good bones, can’t wait to see the finished product. Enjoy the journey getting her there.

Thanks guys. Yeah that's my 1 year old helping me load up the car. Pretty much every part of the car needs something. I've been a mechanic for 12 years all at German brand dealerships though so this a whole new animal.

Don't hesitate to ask questions as they come up. If you haven't purchased some reference material yet, you might consider the Chassis Service Manual and Assembly Manual. They will save you some time and trouble as you go through the project.

There are a number of sources out there, but here's a couple examples from ebay.

Welcome aboard! If you plan on doing a restoration of any level, check out this recent thread on managing the process and the parts as they come off the car. Following the suggestions will likely make the rebuild more hassle-free and enjoyable. Good Luck, and keep us posted with pics

Welcome aboard! Having a running, driving car, with all the parts on it is a great start. Mine was like that when I bought it in the 80s and since then I have repaired or replaced everything except the steering gearbox. Drive it as-is and enjoy it for a while before you pull it apart, you will always remember the feeling of being behind the wheel and that can motivate you to complete the reassembly.

Thanks again. I'm excited to get going on it. The plan is to get it running right and reliable. I've already ordered a new set of tires(235/60r15 front and 255/60r15 rear), control arm bushings should be coming soon. Then I need to change every fluid. It's just a 2bbl which I think I'm going to rebuild or might try the holley 2300 if I can find info on it. Ultimately something I can put the wife and daughter in and be able to drive without too many worries. Also going to convert the ac to r134.
