Thanks for the welcome!

I bought that car from the original owner for $2500 out of the local paper. I had to sell my 72 442 convertible for it. The convert had a 350 in it. The W-30 came from Crest Olds in the Bronx. Still had the plate frame on the back. I used to park it in the street in front of my parents house back then as it was my everyday car.

Although I miss my 442 very much, I have a 70 Buick GS Stage 1 4 speed and a 71 GS 455 that keep my occupied these days. Still kick myself for selling it

Sure. Being from LI, Im sure you've seen them around. The 70 is an original Stage 1 4 speed car in code 34. The 71 is a GS-455 that runns high 11's. Ive owned that car going on 22 years.

I thought the clone ran 12 Flat?
Do you have any recent experience working on Olds? Perhaps one that is a Frankenstein but turns heads wherever it goes?

Lots of experience working on yours! Did you tell everyone about your properly adjusted headlights?

Funny story about Ron's car- I can drive my 70 Stage 1 (1 of 664) around all day and no one gives it a second look. I take Ron's car for a 10 minute test drive after some work I did, and I got the thumbs up and compliments everywhere I took it. Ron got a kick out of that. Me, not so much

Yes, its originally a beige 71 GS-455. I cloned it into a black 71 GS-455

BTW - if anyone is local (Long Island) and needs any work done Jay is excellent. Since he doesn't do it to make his primary living he still has true passion for these cars and will take the time to attend to the details to differentiate between a good job & a great one.
Last time he spun wrenches for me the car went in with rubber hose going from the pump to the carb with a glass fuel filter. He wouldn't let me take it home that way because of the safety issue. He bent me up a steel fuel line and it came out awesome.

Jason, I have a Buick question for you. Way back when I worked at a Chevy/Olds dealership there was a 71 GS on the used car lot. They brought it to me because it died when it was put into drive and ask me to check it. So I found the little sticker under the hood with the timing, dwell and idle speed and adjusted everything as called for. Problem solved. Drop it into gear and it didn't die anymore.

So the assistant shop foreman comes back screaming at me. Seems there was some kind of problem with the car idling at 3000 RPM in park. I don't know what to say, it called for 1350 RPM in drive and that's what I set it at. At 1300 RPM in drive it would die. At 1350 it would stumble all over itself but it would stay running.

There was a rumor that the car came from from the factory with parts in the trunk. Like a different camshaft for one thing.

Question. What the heck was I looking at? A Stage II or III maybe?
