New bee
One of the oldest question
Just purchased a what I would call a survivor 69 442 car has been in storage since 1991 looks to be repainted some time prior vinyl top is in a 9 of 10 condition
Has red fenders and all the w30 air intakes ducting including the dual snouton the air cleaner and below the frount bumper ( all in tact )
motor is locked up and not original looks to be a 396021 (455) casting I also got 239626 period correct motor along with the deal (complete extra engine)
Has a paint code 51 B car is a midnight blue ( didn't process the pain code yet the trim tag is a 336 = 442
trim is 933
Lancing build code
No build sheet to date
So 1 to 10 what are the odd this being a W30! 1 to 10 thanks Reggie
PS I know this is a lot for a new bee but Im only a stranger to Olds not resoration project I was really looking for a retro cutlass coupe body but this fell in my lap
Need less to say this will be sold before its retroad ( too original in my eyes to retro )

welcome to classicoldsmobile!!
survivors are tough finds & authentic 1969 W30s are equally difficult, both in one vehicle is a unicorn
"survivors" are presentable show worthy cars: original paint, original interiors, original drivetrains with minor repairs & maintenance
with ~30,000 1969 442s & <1,500 W30s - that makes real W30s roughly 1 in 20 built
Lansing built '69 442 VIN starts 344xx9Mxxxxxx (some or all? '69 trim tags show "336")
"trophy blue" & black vinyl top with blue bucket seats
coupe or hardtop?
automatic or 4-speed?
power brakes or A/C?
"D" heads on extra engine or on the 455? VIN on engines?
got pics?

If the car has really been in storage since 1991, there is a good chance it is an original W-30. I would bet 80% or better. Many of these cars were repainted by that time in their life for one reason or another. Post some detailed pictures.

your intel is affirmative
no A/C UGH yes power breaks
I dont have the car in my possession at present although the car is mine and secured with a down payment . we are just arranging shipping and final payment .next weekend is the tentative plan
Just tying to confirm some authenticity
I feel like this is a piece of history. Just need some clarity the motor is locked up. Hope to free it and at least get the car drivable
I will get more intel on the engines what puzzels me is the red inner fender and the ram air from under the bumper .but if my research is valet sound like this could have been a 442 option in 69 with out being a W30 !
Thanks Reggie

1969 lansing built car cutlass holiday coupe (still could be 442) 223663 is the body number which would be found on a broadcast card under the carpet or in a seat
TR933 51 b
buckets in blue; trophy blue with black top
12C
built 3rd week of December (same week as my 69 W-30)
vin344879m22483
This confirms that it is a 442 3(olds) 44(442) 87(holiday) 9(69) M(lansing) 22483(unique vin derivative)
unfortunately, we can only speculate as to the authenticity of a W-30, unless you find the build sheet.
def folks here who can speculate better than others... especially with great pics!!
for example, this is what you are looking for:
A 4 in group 37 = W30.
It sure looks like you might be onto something though... rumor has it that many of the W30s came off the line together and yours and mine having a 3rd week body is def a good sign! My cowl tag is 12C, broadcast card 12/20, and build sheet D/26.
Best of luck and WELCOME!!

Check the carb. Even if the engine has been swapped; someone may have been smart enough to keep the original carb. The 69 W30 has a one year only carb that would go a long way to confirming your suspicions!

Thank you so much! I dont believe anyone else has been on the hunt for the Build sheet either Car has been stored since 91 as I was told . Nothing seem fish about the story that has come from the seller who has had it since 2016 also the 455 (not original) Motor is tight but no one has made a valid afford to free it up
Big Question now is do I spend my frist hours /days freeing the motor or a build sheet hunt ! HUM????
I feel like this should be joint afford ! This could be one hell of a story
Ive been on a lot of forums but the intel and level of curtesy Ive received from everyone that has posted in over the top here Thanks
Question Is there a possibility there never was a build sheet ? I do realize it is possible some has beat me to it ! Lets hope not ! But given the fact that it been sitting inside since 1991 Gives me hope
thanks Again guys
Thank everyone

It is true that you are likely to find at least 1, if not 2, hen's teeth before you find a build sheet. However, a survivor in storage for a long time is how it happens... you do not want to sit on rat turds, so take the seats out and check them over both bottoms and backs. I found one in the rear seat back. Then, carefully check under the carpet...

Obviously, there were Canadian built 442s.... but I wonder how many W30s made it across the border? Mine was ordered and delivered to Chesrown Oldsmobile in Newark, Ohio (08-141 dealer code).
