Finally got my hands on a 442! Been looking for awhile and decided it was time to pull the trigger. Flew down to Orlando, took a look, liked what I saw and ended driving it back to the Northern VA area the same day. Drove like a champ the whole way (850 miles in 13 hours), not a single issue.
I'm def gonna have some questions with fixing minor things here and there as I'm more familiar with Fords (69 Mach1 428CJ).
This thing is a driver and I'm looking forward to taking her to car shows and cruise weeks all spring/summer/fall.
Pretty car. FYI, the Capitol City Rockets is the DC-area chapter of the Olds Club of America. We alternate meetings between Springfield, VA and Rockville, MD. The March meeting is this coming Sunday at 12:30 at Hard Times Cafe in Rockville. The weather should be gorgeous. Hope you can make it with the car.
Wow that is impressive. 69 is a great year although I’ve only owned 71s and 72s. Living in a small market and looking for specific cars / options can be challenging, so I’ve flown and drove home six or seven in my day - but never anything over 50 years old!
My most recent 442 was delivered by the seller to me in an enclosed trailer - which was nice.
OK - back to you and your trip, how did it go, did you have a permanent smile on your face the whole time or were you worried something was going to break. Sounds like I4 to I95 and it drove flawlessly - congratulations again, and love to hear more specifics
Indeed, and I can see why you say that from your avatar!
Congrats and welcome to CO, that's a sweet looking '69. I agree that the red rims complement the red pinstripes nicely. The only thing it needs now is a red interior. I'm a big fan of the red/black color combination, thanks to my '68 (which was my first car), my 4th, 5th and 6th cars were red & black (red bodies w/ black interior or black convert tops).

Outstanding automobile! Great buy, and guts, to drive off on an 850 mile trip. Leap of faith.
I see you are a Nova fan as well. I have a '70 Nova SS to complement my '76 Cutlass. Red Nova, White Cutlass, Blue GMC...Can't get much more American than that...
Good luck with your new treasure and be safe out there.

I don't think he mentioned being a NOVA fan....However, He is from Northern Virginia - NoVA --
HaHa! I looked at his ''name" and saw NoVa...But, I reckon it means Northern Virginia...LOL! I am probably the only one here I could have even thought that....
Thanks for the warm welcome. Good to see the Olds community is so welcoming.
Joe: thanks for the invite, you can count me in. Any reason to drive the 442 and I'm in.
Drive up from Orlando was nice, got a lot of thumbs up and people taking pictures with their phone as I drove by. One of the many reasons I was drawn to an 442, or Olds for that matter, is you don't see them out and about like you see Mustangs, Camaros, Chevelles, etc.
One thing I instantly noticed on the drive up was damn it rides much smoother and is much more comfortable than riding in my mustang.
I'm a bit partial the the '68 and '69 model years and it looks like your car received a detailed restoration. You got a nice one, and a reliable one, too!
Figured I drop a few more pics of the car and provide some details.
As you can see she's got a 455 under the hood, W-30 intake manifold, Edelbrock carb, the red inner fender covers, and some engine dress up for a W-30. The previous owner was a fan of the W-30 look.
Previous owner also put in a Tremec TKO 5-speed which was nice while I was cruising down I-95 at 80-85 mph. You can read up on one of the attachments about what all else he did to the car. Car came with plenty of documentation (service manual, receipts, etc.) and I'm pretty sure he said the original license plate (Michigan car originally).
