hi im new to the site. The reason i joined is i was looking into buying a 1969 cutlass supreme but im having problems trying to figure out the body tag. Heres the tag info any help would be greatly appreiciated.

Here's the breakdown as I understand it to be!
69 = model year 1969
3 = Oldsmobile
43 = ??? Are you sure it isn't 42, which would be a Cutlass Supreme?
87 = holiday coupe
BF = Fremont, CA assembly plant
06063 = the assembly plant body number
982 = interior color and front seat style - I don't have it in my book
B80 = option = exterior drip scalp molding
59 = lower body color = meadow green
59 = upper body color = meadow green (convertible & vinyl top codes are different)
04B = build date = 2nd week of April 1969
143683 680464 = ?
VIN 342879Z127073:
3 = Oldsmobile
42 = Cutlass Supreme
87 = holiday coupe
9 = model year 1969
Z = assembly plant which is for Fremont, CA
The first a-body car theoretically starts off with #100001 so this Cutlass Supreme is the 27,303rd off the line for model year 1969

My book doesn't list 982 trim. Maybe I need a better book.

 

Thanks for the help. rcorrigan5 your right its supposed to be a 42 not a 43 typo. yeah my confusion has been the set of numbers after the time date not sure what the meaning of those are. Its been messin with my head hahaha. Thanks again for all the help

 

Welcome to CO and tell us more about this car. We love to give our opinion and if you post pics you might get some good help as we have many members here that really like the '69s.

 

I went and looked at the data plate on my '69 4-4-2, which is also a Fremont car, built a month and a week after the '68 Cutlass Supreme. I was hoping that those numbers might show some sort of trend, but I don't see any. Here's the data plate on my '69:

TR 930 50 B PNT
05C 296025 940236

I'm wondering if anyone else can make sense of it!
