need for help here in the netherlands

Hallo everyone,

i'm glad to be a part of this great site. I'm Raymond from the netherlands. i,m 40 years old. and love american classic cars. i have a 1968 delta custom haliday coupe with a 455 2 barrel engine. i drive in it with a big smile on my face for almost 10 years but the last times i drove in it i hear a boink when the engine is in a low performence. its difficoult to write it in your language. so when i'm driving 40 or so and i'll want to keep driving that. so i put al little gas with my foot on the pedal. than i hear it. i heard from a few people that it is the rod bearing. so my plan is to get the engine out en to fix the problem. i never done that. so does anyone have some good tips? or other things that can help me? i want te check the whole engine so that i can drive for an other 10 years. also need new window felts on the inside and outside with the chrome trim. does anyone have a adress for that?

greets, Raymond

Welcome aboard,

I have a friend in who live near Maastricht. In Gelen. I'm going to wait on some others to speak up, Because it's hard to analyze engine problems over the net.

Could be a simple as a u-joint clunk.
Possible low grease in the rear end?
That would clunk too. I never heard
an Olds go boink.

A tick sounds like a lifter.
Does it sound like it is on top
of the engine or down low in the engine?
Down low like a knocking?

Take the valve covers off and see if the noise is in the rocker assemblies. A rod knock is very pronounced.

I was also thinking possible cracked flywheel
or bolt missing from the torque converter to flywheel.
