my newbee intro...54 Super 88 2 dr sedan

I wrote up a master piece self intro, clicked something, and poof it was gone, destination unknown. Then I wrote up an info wanted post and entered it into the wrong category. I can see this gonna be fun. I've reached the senior senior citizen category so bear with me. Back in 1949 I was standing on a side walk and observed a new 49-88 powering its way up a steep hill. It had stock exhaust, but you could hear that distinct V8 sound, quite a contrast to my 33 Chev. I thought to myself that someday I want an Olds like that. It happened. Thanks to a steady income from Uncle Sam I acquired a 49-88 delux club sedan on 10-13-51, still have the sales slip. Since that time 18 Oldsmobile family cars have come and gone. Last summer I happened to spot a nice 54 Super 88 2 dr sedan survivor and it kept me awake all night so the next day I bought it. It is now in the hands of a son who is doing or overseeing the complete restoration to better than new condition. About all I have to do is keep money in the Olds account. At this moment the newly refinished sheet metal and reman engine are being reinstalled on the chassis. Well, sometimes it takes a while to find that "special" car and I figured I best not wait any longer.

Welcome to the site! Do you have any pictures of the restoration progress you can share? If I type a long message I'll do a "copy" before hitting the post button. The site will "time you out" after a while if your not going back and forth between messages. When that happens, I'll log back in and "paste" my message in a new box to post. John

Start a build thread so they don't get lost here in the newbee section. Welcome to the site.

Welcome. The 54 is one of my favorite cars. I have a few extra parts if you need them. What color(s) are you using?

Painting is done with 54 Capri blue top, tail, and rear quarters, Polar white bottom. I need a door window, both stainless rocker trim pieces, and rear bumper guards and the little trim pieces that seperate the colors ahead and below the back up lights.

The rocker panel moldings may be repoped and were at one time found in fusicks catalog but I don't see them in the catalog I have now, it might be worth your time to give them a call....Tedd
