Long time Olds owner here...

Just found this forum, glad to see there's a lot of activity on this forum.

I have two Olds, one is a 69 and the other is a 84. The 69 has 811 original miles and the 84 has original 1252 mile.

Thanks. Probably when I was 9 or 10 years old I said when I get older I was going to buy a new car and not drive it, ten years later that's exactly what I did with my first Olds.

Some people think I'm just BS them, so far know one is willing to bet me $10K ( more if they'd like ) that I'm just BS them.......any takers?

BTW, I took a look at your photo's, love the Olds but really love the Plymouth Fury....too bad you sold it.

More pics

Welcome.

The pictures you posted are very dark. Roll those cars outside and take some pictures then repost. I for one would love to see what a 69 Olds with 811 mi on it looks like.

I've owned both cars since day one, in fact I followed the 69 through finally assembly. The how isn't a easy question to answer, I would have to refer you to my psychologist.

The 69 is really my pride and joy, when I ordered it I ordered the 350/310, four speed close ratio, HD rad, 3:91 gears and bucket seats.

Are you sure you don't want to call me out, you could make an easy $10K.

Thanks. Very unlikely I will take it out of the garage to take pics, these car haven't seen the daylight since I put them in this building in 1985...the building doesn't even have any windows. I did install some better lighting lately, I'll see if I can take some better photo's.

Beautiful cars amazing mileage. Do you own one that you drive, I put more miles on my car last month then the total mileage of both your cars.

Thanks for the compliment, I don't own any Oldsmobile's that I drive....I did buy my son a new 1997 Cutlass Supreme that he still drives daily though.

If I was a educated person I might be able give a better answer then what I said in reply #3, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

DAM wish I could have ordered what I wanted back in 66-71! I was a tad broke then. The fantasy would involve a W car with a stick and no top, of course. You do have a rather unusual car. Not many came with that combo though more did than the in later years say 71-72. Do you at least start it up once and a while to keep things moving? Or is everything drained out for preservation? I sure as hell could not resist driving at least a few miles a year. You have some restraint my friend.

Btw I really miss the Plymouth. Since you have kept these cars so long, whats the future plan? Are you going to sell them, put them in a museum, finally start driving...?

So what's the end game?

Meaning, what eventually happens?
You'll never drive them...SOOOooooo they'll be left to your son without you having ever really enjoyed them? Are you really willing to exit this earth without having taken that gorgeous '69 out and just drive the heck out of it on a beautiful fall day?

not trying to be an ***. It's your car.
I just know I couldn't let it sit unused.
I actually apologize to my car out loud if I don't drive it once a week.
Horses need to run.

The 69 hasn't been started since 73 ( when I moved to another house ), I put a little oil in each cylinder and have turned it by hand ( harmonic balancer ).

I consider my building a museum, I have plenty of of Oldsmobile memorabilia in the building also. I've always said everything is for sale, and no I won't be starting to drive them.

Pete,
But I do enjoy them, just seeing what I have is more enjoyment then driving them around. You have to be a special person to understand what I'm saying, the only other people who might understand weren't able to escaped the cuckoo house like I did.

Well, to each his own.

I guess I can appreciate anyone who appreciates these cars as much as you obviously do...even though I couldn't take not driving that car for a second...feels like a crime.

But If they make you happy so be it.
Who am I to judge.

Please do take some better Picts though...not taking decent Picts is also a crime.

Just when you think everything's been discovered yet another pops up. Yes, thanks for sharing, how cool! Would be neat to take some detailed pics of both for those interested in restoring one to like new. These survivors are an invaluable road map for restorers. You could likely compile a detailed book on both for that purpose, and publish it. Read royalties towards retirement.
