Just to say hello from the UK

Just managed to sign up and say hello to forum members.

I purchased and shipped to the UK a 57 4 door Golden Rocket back in December 2009. It was not quite as described. Fortunately I like a challenge and rarely give up. It's easier to list the parts I have not had to fix or repair = chassis and differential.

The car had been looked after a long while back, but had not had $'s thrown at it for many years since.

3 years later and it's a different car. Rebuilt engine, gearbox & suspension to name a few things to keep me quiet. I'm currently replacing the interior from a 1970's style revamp back to original pattern fabric and vinyl.

Here's a few then & Now pics to peruse. A friend of mine did the paint. I'm not a Jack of that trade.

I hope you enjoy.
Cheers.

David

Hi Dave,

Welcome to the forum from a fellow Brit.

Looks like you had a lot of work to do on your car going by the pics, looking good now it is nearly finished.

Where abouts in the UK are you ?

Cheers.

Russ.

Welcome to the site Dave. I'm sorry it turned into a bigger project than you expected. But it looks like you've made some significant progress! I really like the body lines on the 1957, and the 4 door hardtops are cool.

Welcome aboard.

Well it's looking good now, we all have gone through the might as wells fix this and that when restoring a older car, seems it happened more often when you buy from afar and can't see it in person. That ride has to turn heads in the UK ......Lost in the fifties.... Tedd

Just to say hello from the UK

Hey. Thanks everyone for welcoming me to the site.

I hope to get some more before an after pics up at some stage when I get a bit of spare time.

Russ - I'm in the Kent area, there's me and at least 2 other 57 owners locally, one has a 2 door hardtop super 88 and the other has a 4 door hardtop super 88. Hopefully in the spring/summer we can get all 3 cars running and I'll get some photos to post on to the site.

Thanks again.

David

Hi Dave,

You have also got Kev Greenwell in Kent, he has got a 1954 Super 88 Convertible.

Looking forward to seeing your pics when you post them up.

Cheers.

Thanks again for all the replies. The car does turn heads and puts massive smiles on peoples faces. Even small kids call out "lovely car mate". Makes me feel proud.

Hopefully the interior door cards arrive today and I can book up for that full interior overhaul.

I'll post some pictures when done.

Hey, a merry Christmas to all.

David
