Just making my obligatory "introduction" post
Just making my obligatory "introduction" post
Hello all, I didn't exactly follow the "guidelines", as I made two posts before coming here. I don't actually own a classic Oldsmobile (GASP!!! Please forgive me! I do have a 1999 Intrigue!), but I am a diehard GM guy, and Chevys are a little boring because everybody has one. I stumbled onto this forum when looking for info on an Oldsmobile for a guy at work, and ran across a discussion I just had to jump in on, and became a member mainly to participate in one discussion...
I love the 64-67 Olds A-bodies and the 73-up Omegas (until they went to front wheel drive), and believe it or not the Olds Starfire hatchbacks. I had a 75 Chevy Monza (same as Starfire), factory V8 4-speed hatchback in high school and college until a guy T-boned me and totaled it. Other interesting cars I have had are a 1965 GTO, a 1970 Camaro, a 1978 Olds Cutlass, and 1988 Formula Firebird. I really am a Pontiac guy at heart (sorry!) and I currently have a 1967 Firebird that is in dire need of restoration once I have the time, money & space to do it. I will have had it for twenty years this coming summer, and I guess my kids will inherit it, as it belonged to my best friend growing up who was killed in an accident in 1990, and I will never let his car get away from me!
Anyway, that is my introduction. Oh, yeah, I am an ASE Certified Master Technician who has been in the automotive industry for over twenty years, but hasn't turned wrenches for a living since 1992...I only do it for fun now!
I love reading and learning about non-Chevrolet GM muscle cars, and I will contribute when I have something worthwhile to say.

Well, welcome to CO and I hope you take part in more discussions as well. We have a thread asking 'just what constitutes a "Classic" Oldsmobile?'. We decided that basically they all are, so you fit right in.

Thanks everybody, I will be checking in every few days to see if there is anything I can jump in on with worthwhile, useful information. I have some in-depth, specific experience with GM musclecars in several different areas. There are a lot of little tidbits buried in my brain that could be useful to folks at times! I'll help out when I can.
