Just introducing myself!

Hello everyone! My name is Dave, I've been in the autobody biz for about 20 years. I have finally got around to restoring my 1964 Vista Cruiser I bought a few years ago. I will post some pics soon. I look forward to sharing info back and forth with everyone here. My plans so far (aside from a ton of rust repair) is a somewhat authentic 60's custom with the addition of air-bag suspension, L29-4L80e swap (which I am pulling from the donor today) disc brakes, and others. The engine/trans swap will be a learning experience for me since this is not really my forte' but I am lucky to have some local friends that are more experienced with this type of thing. I'm happy to share anything that I learn, and if anyone has any useful info, I'd love to hear it! Dave

Very cool ride. It looks like it was purpose built with the front mounted trailer hitch. I reckon it helps when pulling the trailer out to the street for hook up.

Thanks all! I think you can view all the pics as I go through my restoration on my profile page. I pulled the L29 454 from the donor last night, and plan to have the body off the frame in the next few weeks to replace the floor pan.

The 454 swap is fairly simple although not much clearance under the flat hood. The 4L80e I believe will take some doing in the trans tunnel area and mount.

I would post your project in the non-olds powered for those interested to follow.

I know it's a sin, but I intend to keep the 330 and powerglide and perhaps breath new life into it in the future. But for now, rebuilding it is not in my buget nor would it allow me to enjoy the vehicle in the matter I wish.

I understand as I did the same thing. I've got my 330HC/ST300 in a shed possibly for future posterity. If your going to post your swap, just put it under non-olds powered and those interested will follow. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

My understanding is the auto tranny was a 2-speed Jetaway, not a Powerglide?
