I know I"m prob going to get flamed for this but I actually have a Pontiac Trans Am but it did have the 403 Olds in it and I wanted to keep the spirit of the car and upgrade to a 455.. Guess you can't be perfect but I did like the 403 even though most purist would say to put a Pontiac motor in the car.. The engine was either lost/stolen by my friends father so now I'm looking to possibly upgrade but needs tons of info on the 455 as I haven't got a clue...

Thanks in advance and I won't be offended by the endless jabs...

Welcome, sometimes Olds at heart is good enough.

OK, this has me scratching my head. How do you lose an engine?

Or, if it's not lost, your friend's father might have STOLEN it? How do you steal an engine? Was it already out of the car? I presume this guy is not still your friend. If he is, can you maybe ask him what his father did with the engine and could you maybe have it back?

No one will jab you because you have a Pontiac, especially if it's Olds powered. We are going to wonder, though, about other things you might say, such as the above!

My friends father worked at an automotive school where he taught HS students who wanted to be possible mechanics.. Anywho, I brought him the car b/c he said he could "rework" the engine with all the parts and labor being free as it was being used to teach the students.. The program ended up shutting down, he never told me, the engine was all ready out of the car and the building it was in was cleaned out and the engine tossed! The car was put in a tow yard and had a window broke so the interior got destroyed and there was some rust/rot around the car..

First of all, welcome! Second of all, in my book that would earn a swift kick to the marble sack... What a guy! :rolls eyes: Sorry to hear that bud, but best of luck with the build!

This is certainly an interesting story. It's unfortunate that this happened to your car. I think your friend's father, who had to be one of the first to know that the course was not going to be offered when that decision was made, had an obligation to get your car and its engine back for you before the building was closed and cleaned out. Unless it all happened so quickly that even he didn't have a chance to do something, which is possible I suppose.

But in any event, at least it doesn't sound like your friend's father is a thief.

I say this as the guy I've found out is very shady so I don't know if the story he's telling me is true or he sold it and pocketed the cash.. He's promised me that he would make things right and get me another 403 but thats been about 1 1/2 years all ready.. Plus, he gave me a whole BS story about the car going to a body shop to get worked on, then moved to another b/c that guy wasn't doing the work and I ended up getting it a total basket case.. So I did some investigating and called the tow company that brought the car to me and they told me they picked it up in the exact same place where it sat for 2 years, not where he said it was picked up at!
