I am a long time owner of this solid 442. I am aware of everything that is not “original “”. I just built it like I wanted to . It’s got your 69 ram air scoops mounted forwards for tire clearance. 275/40 18 front, 285 rear.
400 g engine, turbo 400, 3.73 rear axle. T3 LED headlights. A few custom parts and added chrome for some extra bling. Notice it does not have a rear wing or incorrect w-36 stripe.
Welcome! Lookin good. Where did you get the head lamps?
I made them using the back half of a Hella H4 headlight housing. Fairly difficult to do. I could start a separate thread detailing the correct way to do it. Do you think there would be interest ?

Sweet ride, I like the DIN adaptation for the radio. Just curious though, why did you go with the '69 OAI scoops instead of the '68s?
I looked at both shapes and decided the 69 scoops looked more effective in force air potential. They also look bolder and less discreet than the 68 model. I believe the original engineers were thinking the same.

I think it's probably because the Engineers redesigned them after 68 so there would be less warranty claims for the scoops sucking up water and hydro-locking the motors when they drove through deep puddles. They designed a fantastic looking hood in 68 that looks to be purpose built for cowl induction and they threw it away for some silly, bolt on, alternative. I think the The Engineers that designed those things should have been fired.....lol.

I think they should have given the engineers a raise. Maybe fire some air guys over at Pontiac. The olds system was simple and effective. Just because the general public may have thought they could get through that flooded section of road with a running start doesn’t matter. GM probably wouldn’t have gone for the cowl induction hood because of brand image.
I think the scoops may not have been perfect but they worked well. The different OAI systems on the '66 and '67 were probably not the best either. I'll be adding '69 scoops and the rest of things to my '64 Olds Starfire. I just can't bring myself to butcher a perfectly good hood. The OAI hood that came on 1970 models was better.
Thanks for all the compliments on the car. I plan to get rid of the aftermarket looking chrome horn button and replace it with an aluminum piece styled after the original . I should be finished appearance wise then.
