Intro thread from a newb in NM

Just joined this forum. I had a 66 olds F85 in high school. But got back into Oldsmobile's now that i bought a 50 olds 98. Hope to learn a lot and maybe be an asset to this forum. A little about the car I bought . It's a low mile 50 98 4 door. Arizona no rust car. It has the 304 rocket V8. here are a couple of pics.

I plan to make a 60's style custom out of it.

Welcome to the forum. Lookes like you have a good foundation to start with. I like the 50 style and will look good as a custom but I hope you don't chop it up too much. What's that yellow truck in the background/ A former custom job? Looks pretty good.

Welcome.

Shhhh...Let's all try to be quiet and not type in caps or use exclamation points or we'll wake up citcapp too early and he'll be grouchy.

Cool car.

Where you located in NM?
That looks like my nephew's house in Silver City back yonder.

Talking Welcome to CO

Yawn, just woke up put my teeth in and had the first cup of joe and saw your 50 Olds, nice shape. They are a great looking car just as they are you won't have to do much to make it stand out. Keep us updated on the your progress. I am a huge fan of the early Olds and we are seeing more of then showing up on the site which is great

Thanks for the welcom. As for what part of new Mexico I am from. A small town (Nambe) about 15 miles north of Santa Fe. Plans for the car are just a paint job, reupohstering (white button tuck) and some new wide whites. The car hasn't been registered since 72. The tires have flat spots from being parked so long. It's going to be painted a Hot Rod Flats lime with a lime flake roof.

Good morning citcapp.

I didn't want to say anything Frmula505,but since you're painting it.

The color on it now looks like an old Bell Telephone truck.
It doesn't have any angled white stripes on the trunk lid does it???

Lime green with a lime flake roof should be much nicer.

I guess the question I was going to ask about keeping it stock or are you going to modify it is answered.

Very fine machine, one of my favorites. Glad to hear you are painting the car lime green - I've always liked that color. Welcome to CO.

Welcome to CO. I think you found yourself a very solid car. Good plans too. Keep us posted when you start the project, we have a forum for that if you wish.

I already started on the 50 (since my 60 chevy pu is in the shop getting sprayed)

I stripped the roof, they had painted one of those fake convertible tops. In other words 1/4" of hard paint. I had to go to the metal. I removed all the small chromes (not the stainless), and bumpers. Will start on bobywork and sanding this week. I'll start a thread.
