Intro

My wife and I purchased a 1964 Jetstar 88 in the spring of 2011. We love the old gal but it needs a few little bits of help.

I'm having a little trouble removing the door handle and window cranks in order to try to either straighten or replace the window track on the drivers side- I don't see the usual "pin" to release the handles?

The turn signal lever has also "loosed" itself and will no longer engage the turn signals? Any suggestion there?

Thanks for letting me into the group and for any assistance that you can offer-

Welcome aboard

I'm not sure if the 64 is the same as the 69 but I beleive it is. There is no pin in the door handles and window cranks, There a "c" shaped clip spring. Any auto store will have the very inexpensive tool for removing them. While you're there, buy some extra clips. They have a tendancy to go "boing " into no where land.

The clip is what I meant- sorry- I offered a pretty lame description. I have removed these on other cars and they have always been pretty visible once the door panel is loosened - I just don't see one on or near the base of the handle anywhere,

thank you for the reply

They're kinda up in the concave part of the handle. The tool has an offset to compensate. Some people have had luck using a rag to slide up in the area and catch the ends of the clips. IMHO the tool is os cheep it's worth it.

Welcome to CO

Sounds like nice car. Pictures please. The tool Jamsbo described is the easiest way to remove the handle

pic- best available right now

I tried to attach a pic- hope it works

This is our first "trek" into the land of older cars and it's been fun. We are planning to use this one as a stepping stone to the next one

You will need to pull the steering wheel to tighten turn signal arm. Pullers are not expensive for this job as well.
