how to post photos

Hi, have been trying to post photos of my Cutlass, but they will not upload, I keep getting a "security code missing" when attempting to upload from my computer. What is the security code and what do I need to do to get my
car pics on the site? Really a good site, and I'm pretty proud of my car.
thanks
ted

This is a common problem, and I think the most common reasons are either your browser isn't accepting cookies or the images are too large. They need to be less than 100 kB. If it's the latter, and you need a way to resize them, I use Image Resizer for Windows. Fast, free, and easy to use. There are many other ways of resizing as well.

What I've never really understood is why the designers of this site don't change that error message to something more understandable and helpful. Why not just have it say "your browser isn't accepting cookies" or "the image is too large" or whatever the reason is instead of the cryptic and completely unhelpful message about a security token. As you've found out, you have no idea what it means or how to fix it. After all, it's 2013 and the internet has been around for 20 years. The days of inscrutable website error messages should have long ago become history.

I use photobucket to host the pictures and link to them. It works like a charm.

I use the photo-site host method, too, but not everyone wants to bother with establishing an account someplace if all they want to do is show a photo or two.

That's just the way it is. I guess.

I have not been able to upload a photo from my computer to this site in a looong time. I have to host it on some other venue.

I have no problem on any of the other sites I visit except this one. My interests sport a lot more than Oldsmobiles.

Just to review, every site I visit in my internet travels, accepts the photo, from my computer regardless of size, or tokens or whatever. This one does not.

Here's an interesting, quick Q & A on this on another (electric guitar) forum.

http://www.tdpri.com/forum/help-thre...ity-token.html

Supports the idea that the error message is due to trying to upload a photo that is too large in file size. Perhaps CO sees something like this as a possible hacking threat.

Ha! I frequent that site too, no problems. Not like this one.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Security_token

What does this mean? Should posters of Classic Olds be concerned?
