How do you know... X?

probably an overly simple question, but I need to ask...
I just got a 1965 442 that the previous owner put a 455 in.
To even get it running I know it needs a few components right out of the gate, such as the lower radiator hose and some other similar parts.
What I don't know is when I buy parts that connect from the 455 to the stock portions what do I buy 455 or 65 Cutlass parts?
As always thank you all for your help.

You should be able to use parts for a 65 442 with a 400. Same physical size.

This boils down to the radiator outlet and inlet nipple sizes as well as the water pump nipples. It would be handy if you could get these dimensions and write'em down. Take this with you to the auto parts store. For the most part Olds used a couple of different sizes.

You're basically gonna start with water ever year engine you have...so that would be from '67 to '76 for the 455. If you know the year, that would be great.

If you have a helpful counter person at the store, this should'nt be too hard. Look for the older fellow behind the counter and just tell them what you are working on.If they have been in the business for very long, These folks should be able to cross-reference a couple different applications and years and find you a hose.

What i always do regardless of make and model. I bend a piece of wire usually a coat hanger in the shape and length needed then i run to the local napa and go look on their wall of hoses and pick one. No pun intended on that lol.
