My name is June and I am from the North Houston, Texas area. I just wanted to introduce myself.
My wife and I are building a pair of His and Hers 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supremes.
I purchased the 1st one some time around 1993ish while stationed in 29 Palms, CA during my time in the Marines.
Our 1st 1970 Cutlass (Palm Springs CA 1994)
This car I managed to purchase for $1,000 back then which as you can imagine would be an insane price to pay for a running car in todays world.
Two weeks ago we purchased the below 1970 for $1,500 (No Motor, Missing Fenders, Rust Repair Needed) so compare that to the 1st purchase right?
Our 2nd 1970 Cutlass (Purchased in Houston TX)
We Currently reside in North Houston, TX and will build these ourselves.
The 1st one was torn down and got put on hold after I started a family but it remained in the garage all this time.
My wife recently found the 2nd one so we jumped on it.
By doing a VIN decode, we discovered that both of these were assembled in Fremont, California exactly 2,875 cars apart which is pretty cool to me.
(DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A WAY TO DISCOVER THE EXACT PRODUCTION DATE)
All of our his and hers builds are a reflection of our personalities so Wife's will be all original and stock where as mine will receive some custom touches.
We just recently took a trip to Dallas, TX and scored some fenders for the 2nd one so things are going to move along with them just fine.
Welcome aboard! I lived in the Houston area for 10 years before moving to Arizona. The wife worked downtown near West Grey and Waugh.
My first car back in the 80s was a 1970 Cutlass Supreme Fremont car. I drove it through high school, college, and first real job. It's the vehicle that I cut my teeth on and learned how to build engine, suspension, transmission, differential, do paint and body, interior restoration, etc. Unfortunately, it rusted away and forced me to find another Cutlass. Found the '71 convertible in a small salvage yard southwest of Houston in West Columbia. Fortunately all that work on the '70 prepped me for what I needed to do on the '71 to get it functional.
Here's a pic from my apartment balcony in Lake Jackson of the newly purchased (in 1990) '71 Supreme convertible and the '70 Supreme hardtop. Minor note is my plain jane 1986 Thunderbird and my neighbor's T-Bird Super Coupe.
I know I am coming off as an idiot right off the bat, but I do not see the button. I looked for it thoroughly, can you send me a screen shot of where it is?
