Hi from Hamburg in Germany!

Hi I am from Hamburg in Germany.
I recently bought a 1956 Oldsmobile Super 88 convertible, nearly perfect condition!
I also own a 1960 Corvette and a 2002 Corvette, this should show you guys that I am a fan of America V8 power!
I hope to find some help and support here, even though I feel that the knowledge base on the 1956 Oldsmobile is very small, no data, no details, no restoration guide.
Seems to be a tough one, but possibly you can help to bring some light into the Olds story.
brgds

Guys, thanks very much.
The 1956 is still at the paint shop, it needs to go to the convertible top guys and then I am ready to present!
Be patient with me!

Welcome to CO

We have quite a few guy's with 55, 56, & 57 Olds on this site. Lot of knowledge to share. Just ask away. Check the site forums and you will find the Vintage Olds forum and in it you will find a thread stating calling all 56 owners. To there an take a look around.

I know there's a Berliner registered with C.O, but I think you're the first Hamburger Looking forward to checking out the car when you post a few pics.

Wlcome! As the 56 model year was one of the most popular, there are plenty of them around. Likewise, there is indeed plenty of info/data on the car. Seek and ye shall find ... .

Guys, thanks for the nice welcome messages here!
Honestly, I feel that the 1956 Convertibles are amongst the rarest cars in the US!
It is easy to find a Series 62 Cadillac, but the Olds??? None are offered!
Same on the knowledge base, no restoration guide, no books with details, just nothing!
I would like to read what my car should be like, I would like to have more details, more help, but it is nearly impossible.
I need to re-construct the trim tag, I need color a color code for the red/white interior on the 56 convertible etc...
Same goes with spare parts. Fusick and others are good, but certain parts cannot be found!
My Super 88 door emblems seem to be a hopeless game, especially due to the fact that I cannot go to the classic car flea markets and try to buy it locally.
Here in Germany that spare parts for Corvettes are rare, an Olds is not even on the map!!

Welcome to CO, Cord! '56 is one of the most beautiful examples of an Olds. Good luck on sourcing parts; advise, on CO, will probably be much easier to come by. Ask away, other '56 owners will chime in, I'm sure.

Welcome to CO, Cord.
Great to have a member from Hamburg!!!
Although I don't get to work with the 50's Olds's any, we will do our best to help you out.
And I long to have dinner again, at The Old Commercial Room across the street from the Michel. Good stuff!
