Hi Miles here (WF1F).
I am finally getting back in to Cutlasses again.
First: 1970 Cutlass Supreme
Galleon Gold with a white Vinyl Top 350, 2bbl
Bought this car from Argo Paul Cellucci Jr. (future Governor of Massachusetts)
Owned 1976 – 1980, Totaled while parked at a Meter in Worcester on St. Patties day.
Paid $1,700, had 25k miles, Totaled at 120k.
Second: 1972 Cutlass Supreme, Silver, 350 4bbl with AC that did not work.
Owned 1980 – 1983 (Trunk rusted out and sold to a kid).
Third: 1971 Cutlass Supreme Convertible, Red and white rag top. 350 4bl
Owned 1983 -1993. I put a lot of $$ into the Body and Mechanical.
Since I did not have a garage, the frame just rotted away. Sold it.
Fourth: 1971 Cutlass Sedan 4-door winter car. Blue. 350 2bbl
Owned 1983 - 1989
Just my winter car, Lost #5 Intake value, so converted it into a 7
Cylinder and drove it for 2 years after.
Observation: It seems that the first valve to make noise always seems to be the #5 Intake valve.
I waited too long to replace the noisy fan. It eventually ended up in the radiator. Sold for Junk.
Fifth: 1972 Cutlass Supreme, 350 4bbl
Previous owner hand painted an ugly green.
AC barely ran.
Air shocks and huge rear wheels that would not fit under the fenders.
Just a temporary car for a few winters. Sold it to a kid.
My Sixth and Current Cutlass is a 1971, 350/350 10-bolt, 4bbl Mileage 20k
Owned 2011 - present
Color Saturn Gold with a white vinyl top.
A few too many parts are still original. Engine runs great, no smoke.
One slight tappet sound, most likely the #5 Intake valve.
I am having fun working on the car and taking it to shows.
Any other people from the Boston / Lowell area around?

Welcome to our site! We don't like the "ugly" green color statement, lol...... jk!!
The previous owner Brush painted the car a Non-factory green.
Stuck on 150 psi rear air springs and tires wider than the fenders.
But for $400 bucks and it ran, i ignored the paint job.
I see you have an extended history owning Oldsmobile Cutlasses. I am sure you will bring a wealth of knowledge to the site, enhancing an already established, and well known resource for Oldsmobile enthusiast world wide.
I have learned a great deal from this Forum. And now I am helping another Newbie to get their Cutlass running. And encourage them to be an active supporter of this forum.
This is my Winter backup car. When I do drive it on those cold days (below 20F), it will get mad at me if I only drive it a few miles. My work commute is only 5 miles. Not enough time to warm up and the plugs get fouled. However, if i take the longer highway route to work at 10 miles, its happy. My record cold start was last year at -2F.
My college kid comes home every winter for a month. She takes my Honda Accord for the month and I drive the 70 CS.

The Body, Roof, Engine and Suspension all in great shape.
The frame looked like Swiss cheese.
This picture taken around 1992.
