Hi, 58 98 olds
Hi, 58 98 olds
Hi, I have a 1958 Olds 98 four-door hardtop with 20,800 miles, sat in a Detroit garage since 1971. Time capsule. I posted to the general forum the other day without introducing myself first. I'm the one who posted the question about why my car has script on the trunk lid that other 1958 98s don't have from what I can see in pictures. I'm wondering if the factory put some 1957 98 trim on my 1958 trunk lid. I'm going to post a picture so you can see the trunk lid on my car and the script in question: It has an oval with a spear through it and "Ninety Eight" and it sets right above the keyhole. Hello and thanks.
Welcome to C.O. The '57 Olds '98 had the emblem you describe in the middle of the trunk just above the keyhole and also had a piece of chrome about 20 inches in length mounted at the very lower edge of the trunk( almost as a way to pull the trunk down when closing it. Is it possible that someone put a '57 trunk lid on it? Just a thought! Pictures would make it easier to solve the mistery. Larry
