Here comes another one!

Hello,

As you can see by my signature my dream car is a 65 GTO, it has to be a convertible/4-spd., (of course)!!!

Well too make a long story short, 23 yrs. ago I was looking for a BOP Convertible, when a "friend" sold a 70 Skylark Conv. out from under me.

Then someone else said I have an Olds Convertible in my barn, I went and looked and it was a 65 442 convertible in really bad shape but it was the
"magic" blue with a white top and interior that I remember from the GTO of my youth. The only catch was I had to buy a package, a wrecked 66 Rambler Classic Conv. and the 442. No brainer, $1250.00 for both.

Fast foward to today.....
The Rambler is long gone and I'm motivated to finish the 442 and sell/trade for that GTO. I have a couple of problem's so here I am.

Thanks for the welcome Oldsguy.

Hope I'm not coming off as anti-oldsmobile, I love my 65 442 and all BOP's.

It's just growing up my best friends older brother had a 65 GTO Conv. and he took us for rides if we washed it. I've wanted one ever since.

But now that their kind of out of reach (price wise), I think I just might convert the 442 to a 4-spd.!

Well dont be surprised if you end up keeping the 442 after your sweat and blood and you actually drive it! Or maybe you have... If not no-one here will be upset just dont tell us your putting a chevy engine in there! A guy I know bought a new 65 442 back in the day. I asked him why a 442. He said he wanted a GTO but Olds had more to offer for his $$ and never looked back. He still has the 442.

Surely you jest, a chevy engine???

I'll have to dig out some pics from when it came out of the barn. They will show how much much blood, sweat and tears I have invested. And yes, it's been driven, approx. 300 miles in the last 23 yrs.

Why switch an original to a 4-speed?
I've a 'basket case' convert for sale in Chicago - $3000 OBO!
No engine or trans.
