Hello Olds Fans
Just wanted to say hello to all my fellow Olds fans and collectors. I 'am the proud owner of a 83 Olds 98 with a 350 from a 76 caddy seville. It has the 307 externals minus the carb and distributor, had to toss the computer! This will only be temporary for a 455 will replace the 350 in search of more torque for those high gears. A beefed up 200 4r will handled the torque hopefully. I also own a 92 Chevy S-10 thats been converted to look like what GM should 've done, a Olds Bravada Pickup. Imagine the styling and smartrak awd with a 4.3 turbo, Olds version of the GMC sy/ty trucks! Will post pics soon!

Some of the best
Definitely, I have owned over 10 98s years spanning from 71 to 90. Then there was my Deltas, a 75 convertible that was one of my favorites and a 85 b-body that I wish i'd kept. I owned a 96 Aurora, black on black with 90,000 miles, super clean! I got my dad to thank for my Olds fetish, he owned a 71 Toronado (my dream car) new, a 82 and 88 Olds 98 new off the showroom floor. The ride and allure of these fine cars always drew attention, and to this day I still get compliments on my 98! It feels great to be among you, I look forward to sharing and getting advice!

Wow, that is a lot of Oldsmobiles (not like you can have too many of course!). I've owned quite a few as well but many were parts donors. Aside from about 10 '75 and '76 Ninety Eights in total, I once owned a '76 Cutlass Supreme and a '92 Achieva SC....oh and I almost forgot, I also had a '68 Ninety Eight Convertible. The '68 was a gorgeous car and unfortunately I got it at a point where it was too late and I had to part it out. It would have been an amazing car to restore (only had 70K on it!) but it wasn't in the cards at the time. Looking forward to some pics of your car.

WELCOME ABOARD!! NICE looking "Nine-EIGHTS" for sure!! I like the White Vinyl Top over a White Body. (That vinyl top covering the rear portion of the windows though looks like the treatment on my '90s Cadillac Brougham! never seen an Olds '98' with that; looks cool though -- love the look of those Opera Lights at night!!) ENJOY your cars and welcome again!

Sold in 82
Man, I was sold in 1982! My pops was tired of his 76 Buick limited(which he tossed me the keys too)and had me drive him to the Zavala Olds dealership in 82. He had a brochure which came in the mail about the new 82 Olds 98 Regency Brougham which featured the custom embroided seats and the new b-pillar lamp which at night made the car stand out from the rest. The 98 he picked was off the showroom floor, it was rosewood with a dark rosewood top. It was love at first sight, and my pops drove home and we packed up for a trip to Denver. That new car smell, the smooth ride and the many thumbsup he got on the way sold me! I've driven benzs, bmws, and even owned a towncar.I rather drive a 98! Here is a pic of pops 82 Olds 98 on a trip home to Natchitoches,La, home of the Meatpie!

Citcapp is not kidding about these being great long distance cruisers.....took the burgundy one from Connecticut to North Carolina last year and it performed beautifully! Doing it again next year. Can't wait!

Its a 71
You definetely know 98s! I bought this car from a friend who was about to sell it to a guy that wanted it for a demolition derby! He bought the car just for the clip and swapped the 73 clip onto this body, which was damaged but not much. I got this car for $100 minus the 455 rocket and 400 tranny, the body sat in my backyard for 6 months. The guy that bought the drivetrain decided to sell it and I bought everything for $400, with only 84,000 miles! Back in it went, tried locating a 71 clip to replace the 73 but no luck! So I just fixed what was needed, painted the car, new tires, exhaust and she was sold for $3000 plus a 92 s-10 !

Haha....I'm glad I was right! I've been into the 71-76 Ninety Eights for quite some time. I'm glad that finally know each year's nose and tails (although the '71 and '72 noses still throw me off a little). You did pretty well on the sales profits but it looks like you had a nice car there...it's a shame you let it go. Oh well, at least you still have your other 98!

One of the Best!
Hey Fradieus98...I don't recall you mentioning you had a '73 Ninety Eight as well? Maybe I just missed it. Anyway, nice cars! I attached a couple of pics of one of my cars for ya....I need to upload some more recent pics of my black 98 (the one is my avatar).

Thanks! I've had that one for over 13 years now and it's my road trip car. We take it on all our vacations and I'm always so proud to take it no matter how far we go. It's mostly original but even still I've rebuilt a good portion of the car and added a large amount of options over the years including tilt/telescope steering, Twilight Sentinel, pulse wipers, mirror thermometer, etc. It's such a pleasure to drive that car, especially since my show car isn't quite done yet. Even when it is, I'll still be driving the burgundy one more.

It was actually the Olds Club's national meet this past July in Sturbridge, Mass. Great show and there were actually two other 76 Ninety Eight Regency Coupes like mine. A blue one with the same white top and interior as mine and a black one with mahogany/burgundy top/interior. The black one is a senior preservation and a real model for my cars. Both owners are friends of mine.

Timewarp
To be at that event would be like a timewarp to when those cars were new! Its a shame to see so many Olds ending up in the U pic It yards and finally crushed! I have made offers to buy classics that didn't need much like a 72 Toronado someone sold to a local U Pic It, but they won't let you buy them once they hit the yard! Anyway, I got some more pics of my parents and their Olds. I threw in a pic of me and my sister with the 76 Buick I eventually inherited. Yeah I know, its not an Olds but they shared a feature I love about these cars, skirts! Also, the last pic is of the day my pops bought the 82 98 that we took to Denver,Co. I can still smell the new car scent!!
