Smile Hello new to Olds bet you never heard that one B4

Hello, I am stationed in el paso texas currently in afghanistan my wife just picked me up a 1970 cutlass S 4 brl rocket 350. I love the body style and am currently having it painted all black. I am not restoring it and own I guess cars you would consider ricers most of my life. Always have wanted to try an older car just do to the fact I love cars in general. I also have a 2010 CTS-V and lol and a 1952 Ford F1 and no lol that wasnt will be a modded vehicle as well. I love the look of the 442's but I am not a drag guy just like a little pep in my vehicles no need to put rubber down on the ground for me. I know I will get killed for this but I figure it is my vehicle and I should make it how I want. I have done a bit off research on the car well as much as my job allows at this time lol, and I have only pictures of the vehicle. It has been painted all black with color matched bumpers and I ave bought a tune up kit and various mild upgrades exhaust and such. nothing major as I have no idea how to work on older vehicles or carbs for that matter. So I am just reading threads now to get my knowledge up so to speak. I am learning just alot of compression and cam and piston threads are way over my head. Well all in all I am not restoring this vehicle quite the opposite actually and I know people will give me grief for an all black cutlass on all black rims but that is the color o my vehicles and I like the look. and before it is asked yes there will be big rims well let me define bit I like the wheel well room filled up so no need for 24 inch rims or anything I am thinking better shocks and an eibach pro lowering kit and 18"s or so a little bigger tire on the back maybe 20"s because my CTS-V came with them and it looks nice with a nice size rubber around it for the ride. well here are some pics of it so far I look forward to replacing the spark plugs wires and distributor cap and air cleaner. I am unsure how to proceed after that and an oil change. it looks like the consensus is gears but I am unsure really how hard that is to do myself so we shall see how she drives. But just wanted to say hello who I am what I am trying to get done and I am not really a purist or an engine guy or hell mechanically inclined at all lol but I am here to learn and hopefully get my rust bucket to safely ride the streets Oh and I just got disc brakes for the front but I believe that is something easily done I have put big brake kits on newer cars so hopefully I can fumble through that... Hello again ladies and gents look forward to sucking up your knowledge. Oh and none of you will hurt my pride lol with any tips any at all even if you think they are common sense or knowledge. I take most cars to the dealer and dont really know too much I deploy quite a bit so time at home is short and I try and do one or 2 things myself but I have a family so they are my what I spend my time with so thank you in advance for any tips tricks or just observations

Welcome to the site! There's a lot of information here as you read through the threads. When you have the time I think you'll glean a lot of knowledge about your car just reading through them. If any questions come up go ahead and post them. Odds are someone has come across any problems you encounter.
