Hello from Minnesota

I am new to the group. I just purchased a 1977 Delta 88 Royale coupe with 40,000 original miles from an 89 year old lady. I think I might use it as my summer daily driver. I also have a 1971 Cutlass Supreme Convertible that I bought about 10 years ago. I just discovered this site and look forward to using the forums etc.

Nice cars. That '77 has some uniqueness to it as it is from the first year of GM's downsizing of its full-size cars. The '77s were much different in look and size from the '76s, which was the last year of the really big (there's a technical term for you) GM full-size cars.

At only 40,000 miles, it would be almost a shame to run up the mileage on that car and run it into the ground as a daily driver, especially since it sounds like you bought it from the original owner, so it's probably well documented. It ought to be preserved for what it is. The symbol of a major change in GM's philosophy toward the full-size car concept.

OK, enough waxing poetic. Do whatever the hell you want with the car and enjoy it!

I thought about preserving it too. I have the original window sticker and dealer invoice. It was purchased from a dealer right here in Fargo. I just spent over a grand on it...valve cover gaskets, carb work, new radiator, heater core, front brakes. It was sitting for about a year before I bought it. I'll try to get some pics posted.

I just posted an album with 5 photos of the car. I would really like to find some used 15' SSII wheels. It would really dress it up. The SSIIs were an option for '77 I believe.

Wow, your car is beautiful. Looks brand new. It looks like the dealer logo or whatever is still on the trunk lid. I'm envious. Is the interior as nice as the exterior? I'll bet it is.

By the way, what's all that white stuff around it in those photos? It's hanging off the trees and everything!

Thanks..It does still have the dealer logo "Overvolds" on the trunk lid. The interior is actually cleaner than the outside. The other side of the car has a little bit of surface rust on the lower front fender. I need to get that taken care of because it drives me crazy. I'm really sick of the white stuff. We just got 8 inches last night.
