Hello, long time dreamer - first time buyer.

Hi all, been looking for a convertible for long time now, finally had the ability to move forward with 69 Cutlass S. Haven't taken delivery yet, but first thing I would like to do is upgrade the 2-point seat belts with the 3-point retractable, both front and rear. From what I've found here, I think this was an option, but have been able to locate any photos of how it looks. Hoping to see if anyone here has done this and would be willing to provide any guidance and/or photos.

I'm also not opposed to changing out the front seats with the builtin seat belt if anyone has done that.

Thanks, stay safe.

Gorgeous car! What options does it have aside from the obvious SS wheels and console AT?
Not sure if you can upgrade those safety belts on a convertible. Others will chime in.
Just curious, what condition is the steering wheel in under that wrap? Looks like someone tried to do a repair to those sun visors. They are reproduced if you need to replace for better showing. Otherwise just drive and enjoy!

There was an option for front seat shoulder belts on the '69 convertible but it is pretty rare. I have it on my '69 4-4-2 convertible and have included a driver side picture of where the belt is located. It's kind of a pain to use because you have to reach around to the rear to pick up the belt. Plus, there becomes a host of seat belt receivers in the front to accommodate the separate shoulder and seat belts. I don't even use the shoulder belt when I drive the '69 because it is too much trouble to get to. I understand there was also an option for rear shoulder belts for convertibles (and hardtops) but I have never seen an installed version or how it works. Personally, I'd try to be satisfied with what is already installed in your beautiful car.

Thanks for the welcome!

Allen T, 350 with an updated 200R. The steering wheel is not great at all, will be looking to change that out. Thanks for the advise about the sun visors,.

Randy C, thank you very much for taking the time to write back and provide the photo, its really helpful info.

Looking forward to sponging up all the info I can from you all.

Hi all, finally got my 69 Cutlass delivered, going through registering and title process now. Will have multiple questions/inquiries going forward but for now is that that car has the 200R, with the original gear indicator is still in place. Is there an overdrive gear indicator available that will fit for the console?

Thanks for the help

If the steering wheel is badly cracked it can be repaired using epoxy putty and glaze. I repaired my cars steering wheel that way and painted it. Looks almost like new.
