Hello Everyone

Hi, newbie here with a bunch of newbie questions.

I have a guy here who's selling a 77 Cutlass Supreme with a Chevy 350. Power everything, cruise, AM/FM, A/C. The paint is newish and so is the vinyl roof. He's asking $3K. This is the list of what's wrong with it:

battery
A/C (just needs the belt installed for the compressor, he says)
motor mounts
minor rust, except at the front of the driver's side rear fender, where it's a bit major
front tires

All this seems minor to me except the motor mounts and the rust. I do plan to bring it to my mechanic next week to see if he find find any other problems, but assuming this is the whole list, I have two basic questions.

1. What would you pay for this vehicle in this condition?
2. Are parts easily found for this car? I'm not the least bit worried about the engine, but other things that might wear out like brake or suspension parts.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Welcome to the site, a running car in decent condition is worth $1500-3k. If you plan on getting this car restored by professional shops and not doing the work yourself it will get really pricey fast. If you are not mechanically inclined and/or interested in that, I would look for a car that someone else already restored and personalize it.

Mechanical and suspension parts are available at any auto parts store. Sheet metal and trim are a bit of a challenge as most are not available as reproductions.

Welcome to the site, Cane87!

I'm a little light on info for mid-late 70's cars. Generally speaking, and this is probably more my opinion, they're not highly sought-after cars.

Given the good and bad list you gave, $3k sounds a little high. I'd think more like $2k-2200max, with the "bit major" rust condition being a concern.

Gook luck with your search.
