Hello-74 Cutlass Supreme and 455 Motor Build
Hello all. I've been putting this off for awhile but it's time to get the ball rolling. I lost my father almost two years ago to cancer. He was a stubborn SOB with a long dream to get his Cutlass on the road with a beastly 455 build. Unfortunately health issues, and some major procrastination kept him from that dream. So instead of abandoning ship when he had the health to sell off his stuff, it's left to me to empty out the garage and hopefully salvage some funds for my mother.
First question/request to the community-if there are other message boards for me to get the word out I would sure appreciate the heads up.
Call this just a preliminary feeler thread though. All parts are located in Jefferson City Missouri. I am in Wichita Kansas, about 5 hours away. Obviously this is not ideal. Before trying to part everything out and make lots of trips back and forth, deal with Craigslist/Ebay, I wanted to see if I could find an enthusiast who would have some interest. My mom and I are not going to hold out for top dollar. So there is definitely potential for someone to make a nice score here.
I know the details are short right now, thus why I'm not listing anything in classifieds at this time- Again this is just a introduction/feeler to maybe find an interested party and get some suggestions on where else to look for potential suitors. He was pretty good about keeping receipts which I have with me. I just need to take some time to review them.
What I have (the big stuff anyway)-
74 Olds Cutlass Supreme Body. This is a shell of a car that's been under a tarp in the driveway for 20+ years. It was painted gloss black back in the early 90's. Interior is bare. Engine compartment is bare. I believe it has the original rear end in it. Front suspension is mostly removed, steering linkage disconnected. Probably just good for body parts or someone willing to do a full restoration.
All Engine components for a 455 build. Dad was a big into high performance engine builds for customers but never completed his own. I know many of the parts were accumulated in the early 90's when we lived in Southern California. I know he dealt a lot with Joe Mondello. So there is a bare 455 block, heads, cam, pistons, valve train, carb, etc, etc. From what I know everything to assemble a motor down to hardware and gaskets.
Transmission-He wanted to convert to a manual....I'm pretty sure it's a 6 speed.
Curry Rear End
I already sold a bunch of his suspension items since they are applicable to most GM A body cars. There is more but that is the big ticket categories anyway.
Feel free to PM me for suggestions or to request additional info. Thanks fellas.
Mike
