Greetings from Richmond, Va!

My father owns the Delta 88 Royale displayed in my avatar. Obviously, I absolutely adore it. He's been painstakingly restoring it over the past few years and recently had a new 350 v8 put in it. She still needs a new carburetor, but runs respectably without it. I'm currently in the process of helping him hunt for some parts. I'll be making a thread on here asking for assistance with our quest to getting this car back to immaculate condition, but first a quick question, because it's very pressing.

We're lacking seat belts for the front passenger and driver's seat. I found this Ebay listing, but it doesn't list the 73 Olds as compatible. It only goes up to 70. I found a listing for used seat belts but they're considerably pricier, as well as a listing for a three point seat belt, which is also more expensive and would require an installation kit. Can anybody verify that it is compatible with the 73, and if not direct me in the right direction? I can't really imagine why it wouldn't be compatible, but I want to be sure. Thanks.

Edit: I think I answered my own question by looking at the comp. list for one of the other listings and noting that it included the 73 and the earlier model Delta 88s listed for that seat belt, but absolute verification would be great. We just really don't want to order something we can't use.

Hey, you didn't say that the car is a convertible, and it's hard to see that in the avatar. Very cool!

I have a '73 Custom Cruiser, and as far as seat belts go, seat belts are seat belts are seat belts. If all you want to do is make sure you have seat belts that offer the proper protection, and you aren't concerned about original look, then anything aftermarket will work. Just make sure they're properly secured in the seat belt mounting holes.

The belts you link to in that ebay auction look to be about as generic a set of belts as you can get. They look like airplane seat seat belts. I'm sure they would work fine, but you can buy seat belts from many different vendors. Just google "seat belts". You can get them with or without retractors, with different kinds of buckles, and in any color you want. I wouldn't assume that ebay is the only place you can buy them.

I have a '67 Delta 88 as well, and I needed belts for the rear seat as a prior owner had cut them out. I bought them from one of the online vendors. They look good and work fine. In fact, they looked so good and worked so well that I decided to replace the original, ratty-looking, stained front belts with new ones in the same style and color from the same vendor.

Since your car is convertible, I'm guessing it doesn't have shoulder belts. In my wagon, the shoulder belts are not integrated with the seat belts in the familiar 3-point arrangement we have today. They're just separate belts tucked into their own clips on the roof above your outside shoulder, and they attach to a point on the seat belt buckle, so they're almost a 3-point system, but not quite. True 3-point systems came later.

Haha, okay. That's what I figured but since I personally don't have any knowledge with seat belts of that era I wasn't sure. I've found quite a few viable options.

I just dug the back seat belts out from under the seats. It had probably been quite a few years since they've been out of there. The buckle and tongue are rusted all to ***** but they're operable and better than nothing for the time being. I also crumbled a large portion of one of the ashtrays by lightly touching the bottom of it, since it had rusted all the way through. ._.

Yep, the back seat belts are lap belts and it looks like the original front seat belts were as well.

I don't even go to bed until the rest of my family is waking up. That's what happens when you make all of your college classes late afternoon and evening classes.
