Hi guys, so glad to find a site with so much info on Oldsmobiles! I'm John from Northwest Indiana, near the Chicago border. I had a white 69 Cutlass Convertible 3 speed manual back in high school. That was over 30 years ago. Fast forward to September 2018, I found this white 1971 Cutlass Supreme hardtop in the area and had to have it. From what I know so far, it was originally a California car that made it's way to southern Indiana 4 or 5 years ago where it was restored. A local guy bought it from the guy in southern Indiana, brought it up here, had it for two years, and for whatever reasons, had to let it go. Cameo white with pearl interior, 350, 4 barrel quadrajet. Dual exhaust. It has 84,000 miles on it, which I believe to be correct. It has 14 inch rally wheels (speedo seems to show slower than I'm going?). Anyway, You guys having this site is really helpful for me, I've already searched threads for help in figuring stuff out. This is a treasure trove of information and support, thank you to all you guys in advance for taking the time to post all of this useful information. Hopefully as time goes by I can get up to speed on this stuff and be helpful to others as well. One last thought, when I was under the car the other day, it really brought me back to the 80s! Everything is still very familiar under there. Of course, back in the mid 80s, I only paid $300 for that car. this one cost me a lot more!
Thanks Don, my goal is to fix all the little things I find, and learn as much as I can about the car. I want it as stock and correct as possible. I've got plenty of questions for sure and I'll be posting in the forums with them. I'm getting pretty good with the camera so I'll always try to include a pic.
Welcome to the group! I recently purchased a 72 Cutlass Supreme and have since found the info and advice on here to be invaluable. Good luck on your journey and that's a sweet ride😀
Nice car, I like the contrast from the headlight bezels and center of the grill. The wide rear tires and hood scoops balance out nicely too. Art on wheels
Nice car and welcome from another Northwest Indiana forum member!
As you get back into the hobby, you will find quite a few classic car nights in the area. Crown point holds ours on Thursdays during the summer. Hope you can make it sometime.
I hear about the Crown Point shows, we will be sure to get out there. We have family there so we are out there quite a bit.
Dave, I will be sure to watch for that car around town! We are in Brantwood across from Wicker Park on the Ridge Road side. We go to Blue Top from time to time but honestly I'd rather drive the car then park it. My kids like the shakes and fries so we usually stop over there. Sometimes we just walk......
