Greetings from Germany

Hey Oldsmobile Guys

i thought i had to buy me a real ride as my first car and not some kind of street legal lawn mower that are so popular for young people this time.Since then i own a 1979 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Regency with the Quadrajet carbureted 350 R- Code in it.
Actually it runs good, but starts a bit pathetic.I have to pump the pedal while the starter turns till it fires up. Then i need to give the engine a bit over idling-rpm for circa 1 minute to keep it alive.Idling it stutters once then runs fine, in a circle that repeats every 15 sec circa.
If somebody has a hint what i should do i would be thankful.By the way whats about a bit performance, can the olds 350 be good equipped for some extra hp?

I hope my language is readable
With best regards from Germany

Jan

Hey Jan, welcome. Good choice for a first car, I'm with you on the dislike for "street legal lawnmowers". Without more information, it sounds like you might have a choke issue. Mine behaved similarly before I installed the choke, now it fires right up. I'm sure some searching here would yield good troubleshooting information.
