Green on the Olds (now with pics!)

Sayin' hey. Posted already, but figured I would pop in to say hello. Been a looooooooooong time Pontiac guy but could not resist the latest, our 72 Cutlass. Great lines and a familiar platform made it a snap. So far this has been an EXCELLENT resource. Thanks in advance for all the advice and help I am sure ya'll will lend over time!

Cheers

Norman

It's deep midnight blue...with ghost stripes... it's hard to tell when it is not in the light. Thanks for the compliment! It is very Vader-esque still. We call it the Goober Cutmore. Goober for the plate letters (and because it looks like a giant piece of candy in the light) and Cutmore for all the slicing and dicing working under the dash... which, Rob, thank you again for some guidance on the electrics. We found the car very near to you, out in south east Fort Worth.

Now I see the other wheels for sale I know exactly what car you have. Edelbrock heads right? The pictures from craigslist did not do the paint justice.

Yep, that's the one. The pictures he had in that ad were pretty awful. We bit the bullet and made the three hour drive to see it and were pleasantly surprised. Do you have any insight on the car or did you just see the craigslist ad?

Sorry I don't. I just have a terrible addiction of scanning classified 24 / 7. It leads to neighbors and wife just shacking their head 5-6 times a year as my truck and trailer pull up.

I saw the car really was thinking Macco type paint job from the pics it was listed with. Knowing what is was listed for and now seeing better pictures I think you got a pretty good deal.

We should attend the same meetings. It's non stop with me...and my wife. Likely a big reason we married each other. It's no Macco paint job...and it was a hell of a deal. We caught the seller at a weak moment and scored (in my opinion) big time. I have access to slicks and I am ready to get it to the track and see what happens. I know I don't have to worry about the rear, u-joints, or drive shaft...the previous owner went the distance with picking good strong replacement parts for the drive line.

Welcome! I also have 72 Cutlass but mine is the Supreme version. I saw in the pics you had a 442 badge in the front grill. Is it a 442? Anyways, very nice car. I love the color!

Thanks! This is a Supreme as well but has the 442 grill, bumpers and tail pipes. Most of the work was done by the previous owner. We have just tuned it some, replaced a few odds and ends, made it inspectable and bought new wheels and tires. Cheers!

Great looking car. I really like the colour. And you did a good job picking the wheels and tires, they fit perfectly with the rest of the car.

Thanks. It took some playing with springs to get the stance just right but I'm very happy how it turned out. Now if it could just warm up again....

Nice car, I agree with you that chrome trim and bumpers would make it!

I absolutely love this car!! If you ever decide to go chrome with the bumpers I am defintely looking to buy the black ones. Did the owner powdercoat them?? I live Spring, Tx and you car is very similar to mine.... I call my car the Punisher....Great Car!!

They are not powder coated and are doing a good job of chipping even on the smallest rock it. They are blue this summer when it 115 deg and not driving the car will pull them and powder coat them.

Love the car's look.

I thought it was all black but I guess it's got one of those fancy paint jobs that looks black unless hit with light from the right angle. I'm shocked he painted the bumpers instead of powdercoating them. I've been wanting to murder mine out as well with all black trim instead of the chrome.

Me personally, I think chrome is played out after 80 years.
I think it's perfect the way it looks. Dark looks way better for the sinister feel.

Love the rims too, same one's on Vin Diesel's Chevelle in the last installment of F&F.
