I must apologize....I am horrible at this stuff....BUT I'm gonna do my best to learn!! I am an Olds fanatic....though!!! And I thought maybe I could get some direction from all of you! I am about to ad another Olds to my fleet....1971 Custom Crusier.....Unfortunately it is good to need Quarters....fenders....and possibly doors! I found one quarter out of Chicago ($895) Would anyone make a recommendation where to find the best body parts? Prolly gonna have to buy a complete parts car....but thought this would be worth a shot!!! Thanks so much!!!

But it seems that very few people here have the clamshell-era Custom Cruisers.

I had a '73 Custom Cruiser that I sold two years ago. Certainly post your needs here, but I wouldn't stop with that. These cars do turn up on craigslist from time to time, sometimes in a condition that is only derby-worthy or slightly better, and these are probably the cars you're looking for. You may have to drive half way across the country to trailer home a $500 parts car, but that's the way it is with these cars. They have survived, but not in large numbers. As I mentioned, due to their size and heaviness, many of the GM clamshells end up in demolition derbies.

One thing that no one has ever been able to find as it appears no one reproduces it for the clamshells is the rear window rubber weatherstrip.

You might consider signing up over at stationwagonforums.com. There a few clamshell owners over there you can commiserate with.

Thanks SOoooo much!! I wanted a 60-62....but I cannot afford Meccum prices! Lol....from what I know about clam shells....its mostly preventative maintenance! If you do even the basics of routine maitenance/service....it should serve well for years to come....Im getting the Derby variety....but Ive always been the guy who likes to keep cars OUT of the junkyard!
