First post to Forum

Hello folks and good afternoon
Not new to forum but first post. I have used some great info off of here to get my car going. I live in Sarasota, Florida.

The vehicle is a 1983 Olds Toronado with the 5 Liter 307 in it.
She just turned into an antique and I got the plate today.

I rebuilt the card and replaced hoses and starter and fuel pump and radiator and..... you know the drill.

The only real problem I have left is she just dies sometimes for no apparent reason. Once when I was driving . Once when I was stopped and idling. And today when I was about to turn she died totally...no electric even. Fiddled with battery and she started back up.

Here is the reason I might get laughs...when it started I let the hood drop and now that I am hjome I cannot get the safety latch to spring. Usually, it takes two people...one to push down hood and one to pull the safety release inside the cabin.

Oh well, hello everyone and if anyone has any idea why the Toro just dies at of the blue or how to get that hood open let me know!

I will try to learn the proper ways of posting in here quickly.

Welcome aboard.

First of all I'm not a Toro guy,( I did own one years ago) but your problem sounds to me in a generic sense to be a bad ground. Either from the battery or engine grounds. When everything shuts off something in the electrical system has a broken link. Check all the ground straps, battery cables and connectors even if they look good. Do your lights work when your engine quits?.....Tedd

Welcome to CO. I like those Toro's too, look forward to seeing pics of your ride.

I agree with Tedd, I had a similar problem with an Eldo I have and it turned out to be a bad + battery cable.
