HenryG from Sydney, Australia
1937 Oldsmobile F37
(Holden) Body #758, Model 0L05, Engine # 216410977-1
Bought the F37 about three-four months ago. Lessons learned:
- don't go and buy a car when you're sick
- don't go and buy a car on your own
It's been restored and the paintwork looks really good from 50 feet away and really poor upclose (home spray job)
The restoration is so-so. New rubbers on the doors but glue all over the place, electrical wires that aren't connected to anything - that sort of thing.
Drove it back from Port Macquarie to Sydney (200 miles) at a steady 50mph. Ran fine apart from the steering which is horribly vague - won't hold a straight line - progress is like tacking a boat.
Got to Sydney amidst a strong smell of petrol. Previous owner had had the tank off and not fitted a rubber mat between it and the frame so the flexing had worn half a dozen holes in it. Lucky it didn't catch fire !
Now I'm back on my feet (and summer's here) I'll make a start on finding out what else is wrong and fixing it up. The good thing is that the body is as sound as a bell - no rust. So although I currently wish I'd not bought it maybe I'll feel differently in six month's time.

Henry welcome to the site when you get a chance post a few photos of your car. As for the issues most will have their share of issues that crop up. Given enough time you will sort them all out just take them one at a time.

Photos, yes.....
Gents
Fully agree. I've got some photos - I just don't have the intelligence to work out how to add them into a posting. (If you know the secret, please share it.....)
