First Olds and it's a 56

I just purchased a 56 Olds 2 dr sedan. I've never owned an Olds but have had dozens of cars. I loved the lines of the 56 and wanted to be different from all of the 55-57 Chevies out there. I will probably be asking a ton of questions but also I am hoping to learn about these cars. Hello from KC Missouri

Looks like a Super 88 from here. Beautiful cars. As has been said, a wealth of knowledge on mid 50's at your fingertips. Spend some time getting familiar with the search function. And buy a shop manual.

The car should be here this weekend and I will add additional pics. I would say it's a twenty footer but it is a solid car. The 324 is a 4bl motor and automatic. It runs but needs work before getting it roadworthy. Thanks for the welcome!

Good luck with your new ride. I was lucky enough to get one in the early 80's for a screamin $800. It was perfect for a young man, I literally couldn't blow it up. My room mate seized the engine twice, filled her with oil and used a breaker bar on the crank nut, got it to turn over and kept driving it till I sold it years later for quite a bit more than I paid for it. It was a great car. One of those "wish I never sold it", but a big block Cuda caught my eye and I let her go, hopefully to somebody that gave her the love she deserved....

Finally home. It is a Super 88 according to what I have learned here.

Very nice. The only TLC I see it needs is some Wesleys on the whitewalls. Congrats. It looks like a nice one. I like the color combo.

If you have "Park", you have a jetaway transmission. Do you have a radio? I didn't see an antenna.

Welcome to C.O. You will enjoy looking up the "'54-'56 owners unite " thread and viewing all the '54, '55, and'56's that are owned by members on the site. Also, add your nice looking ''56 to the list. Post questions on "vintage Olds" section and I bet you will get some great answers. Larry

Don't see too many 2 door sedans - especially Super 88's with "Special" (i.e. 'S' on your paint code) 2 tone paint. Love it. You'll need a Fusick catalog (free download from his site) and a Kanter catalog for hard parts. Great find, pretty car. Welcome

No radio, it has the radio delete plate, Probably not going to change that but may add a cd system hidden somewhere.

I hid my cd system in the glove box, which is in the center of the dash and the controls are easy to reach while driving.
