Disc brakes interchange

Had any body ever tried to swap the disc brakes off a 78 cutlass supreme to a 72 cutlass supreme.... Just wondering if it would work and trying to save some $$$

I dont believe so. The calipers might be the same but I am sure that they spindles and caliper brackets are different. When I did my 70 Chevelle (Another A-Body) it was only 68-72.

I don't think they will fit. Welcome to CO.

Same thing I tell everyone else. If it were this easy, the repro disc brake kits for A-body cars wouldn't cost so much. It's not that easy and even the calipers are different (smaller with smaller pistons). See this thread (you will have the same problems with the 78 Cutlass spindles as with these F-body spindles):

Someone in another thread mentioned that the rear drums are larger (11"0) on a '78 and will interchange on the rear axle, if you have the whole car for parts and want more brakes...

No, that's the 73-77 cars with the 11 x 2 rear drums. You can swap the backing plates and drums onto the earlier cars.
