I looked into that carb before I got my qjet rebuilt. Edlebrock says it is jetted out of the box to bolt onto 454's and 460's, so if it is stumbling to the point of stalling, I don't think that jets would be the problem. Have you done all the normal stuff like check for vacuum leaks, and timing? Fuel pump/filters? I have also seen out of box carbs come with their fair share of crude inside them. I would check to make sure you are getting a good strong fuel supply to the carb before you worry about rejetting.

The Edelbrock should run right out of the box but it still needs to be tuned...if you read the booklet supplied you need a set of jets and needles to tune it to your vehicle...I welded a bung for a AEM AF/ratio gauge in my exhaust pipe near the manifold and used that to tune my ede 1411 (built 455 but only 9.5 to 1) works great now!

Hook up the A/F ratio gauge and use the readings you get to compare with the charts supplied by edelbrock in the manual that came with the carb. The chart will tell you exactly which rods and jets to use according to the readings...beats trial and error...

I would probably try tapping the float bowl with a screwdriver, that is what my Edelbrock manual says to try to get rid of debris in the needle and seat. If that does not work it says to run while pinching fuel line off until engine dies, then restart it. I was just reading through my manual yesterday.

Hey guess what.I figured it was the carb.I guess I figured wrong. It was the Distributor,I grounded it to the intake. When I switched it to the firewall problems disappeared.Guess it wasn"t good enough ground. But thanks everyone for feed back
