This car made especially for... plate from 1972 Olds
I am new to the site and am trying to help my Mom out as she is having my Step-Father's 1972 Olds Cutlass Supreme Convertible restored. He ordered it with the 455 motor and wanted it in red. She recently sent me an image of the dealer key fob that came with the car and a small engraved metal plate that stated who the car was built for and the salesman. My question is where was this mounted in the car or was it just in the owner's manual/ dealer paperwork? Any help would be appreciated.
Welcome to the site, and good luck with the restoration, we love photos so if you have any of the car please share. Best guess is Gordon had the plaque made for your step father as a memento of his purchase.
A sidenote, the big block 455 was fairly rare in 1972, especially in a convertible - so look for a U as the fifth digit of the VIN if it’s an automatic, if it’s a four-speed look for a V. If your stepfather kept the key fob he may have other documentation /paperwork. In 72 both U and V codes are highly regarded. Best of luck with the restoration, you’ll find many helpful experts here on CO.

Thanks again for your response. The 5th character in the VIN is indeed a "U". My Mom does not remember any engine re-builds, etc. The car sat for many years in the garage in FL. I do not know to what level my Mom is going with the restoration but it is long overdue for something to be done with the car rather than just letting it rot to nothing. I have attached a few photos of the beginning of the journey.
My 1965 Jetstar 1, 4 speed has the same plate the original owners name, Dealers really appreciated their customers back in the day, a nice personal touch.
