Blast from the past

The late 60s and early 70s were a great time for a young man to have some fast cars. 5 decades of working on the family's fleet of very used daily drivers, I finally got a car.

Classic Oldsmobile is an awesome source for help, so I am joining up.

Thank you for all you do!

Welcome FP.

As you've seen, there's an expert in every field on this site. I still marvel at that.

Did you buy the 1968 H/O in the picture? It looks gorgeous.

I wanted one of the '68 or '69s back then, but didn't have enough money in the pockets. They're still one of my favorites.

Hey Norm

Got a 68 Hurst Olds.
Always wanted another Olds, but never imagined it would be a 68 H/O

So, that is your 68 Hurst Olds in the picture. That's awesome. I've had a '67 4-4-2, a '72 4-4-2 & a '71 CS convertible. Love the '68 Hurst Olds. Enjoy!

What Demmer number is it?
Restored or survivor?
Any history come with it?

I'm partial to 68s

Welcome aboard! One of the best of Oldsmobile mid-size performance cars! That and the '69 version are my favorites.

Hello Doctor

She has been restored and is Demmer #435.

The story is she was owned by an Oldsmobile Engineer from the Eaton Rapids area. I purchased it from a guy who said he bought it from the Engineer's family.

Looks like you have an OAI car too. Please tell me more about her...

Super nice H/O....drool...
Unfortunately, no OAI cars in my stable.
My avatar is a pic of a 68 442 W30 Stick vert car that was for sale many years ago. Should a could a would a....day late dollar short. Z paint code (silver) white gut & top.
Had 68 442 vert auto in the 80s Y paint code (saffron) black top pearl gut.

Then went out to Cali and bought this rust-free numbers-matching example in the late 80s. Been in the family that long. Full resto in 1990.

You had me fooled with that avatar, too. Beautiful '68. The tire/wheel combo suits it well.

It's in the registry. It was originally sold out of Money Olds in Colorado Springs, CO so I don't know about the MI Olds Engineer story. I'm sure Karl Sarpolis can probably give you the history.

I doubt the OP still works, the first post mentions he loves cars from the 60's and been working on his family cars for over 50 years..

Thanks acavagnaro.
Hilliard Vintage weekend is all I do now. You want to talk about a blast from the past. Turn of the 20th century stuff through the muscle car era.

Mike, how cool would that be to do laps around the track with 2 red 68 442s! Then get anyone who has a Olds to join in for the track time laps.
FastPast acavagnaro and Johnny to join in with the H/O and a couple of Cutlass. foto finish.

Hell could make this an unofficial/unsanctioned run-whatcha-brung Oldsmobile regional/national event.
The town is hopping ballz-out-hammer down style too.

Quite a few Muscle cars there last year. Blast from the past brought into today.

Oh man that sounds like fun! Not sure I'll get through the front-end transformation I'm planning on starting very soon (engine / front susp) in time this year, but I'm pretty sure it'll be ready for next year's event. That would be an awesome photo at WG for sure. Thanks for the invite!
