I have a 66 Cutlass Convert that my parents purchased used in 72 and now passed down to me. Needs to be restored someday but still enjoy driving it around.

That was my thought. Car looks beautiful. What restoration does it need?

Sweet car! Gotta love hand-me-downs like that...
I think resto may mean just a wash and detail, though in the picture it does not even need that.
May be best to keep it original!

If that's all it means, then I've restored many more cars than I thought over the years. I restored my '09 Nissan Altima just last week, and I didn't even know it was an old car!

Thanks everyone. The pics make the car look alot better than it is up close. There are some rust bubbles and wavy body panels and there isn't much paint left on the hood and trunk. There is also a rust hole in the trunk near the wheel well. The top also needs to be replaced. The interior is not the correct color and the seats are ripped. It hasn't had anything done to it for 30 years so needs some TLC. But I enjoy driving it just as is so it will be a long process as money and time allow.

Thumbs up

You're MOST WELCOME! Glad you're onboard! NEAT "hand-me-down" INDEED! Stories like yours just don't get any better! You can't put a price on Family Nostalgia w/ these Olds'! (I've got a couple beauties myself I "inherited" and have been in the family since My Uncle special ordered them through the dealer! They're not 442's or convertibles but they mean the world to mean none-the-less. keep ENJOYING your ride and we'll be happy to see you get her all back to "ship-shape" as you get time and funds to do it. A labor of love as we all know!

Wow. You certainly can't tell any of this from the photos.

One suggestion: if you ever decide to sell the car, don't send anyone anything more than the two photos you have attached as thumbnails. They'll buy it in an instant!

The wheels are some wheel covers my dad put on in the early 80's off of a cutlass. I have a set of original ones to put on this spring. They need cleaning. Any suggestions on how to get some surface rust off? A couple have a few dings and will need to find a couple in decent shape.
