Any Suggestions

I just bought a 1963 F-85 convertible. Overall in pretty good shape. There are some project I want to start and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on where to get parts. Mostly interior.

You're not going to find interior parts at YearOne or anywhere else. No one makes body and trim parts for these cars. No one ever has except when they were new. Anything you need you'll either have to refurbish what you have or find from a junkyard car. You might investigate salvage yards in the southwestern U.S. such as Desert Valley Auto Parts in Arizona, but keep in mind that people have been looking for parts for cars like yours for decades, and it's hard to believe that there are many of these still sitting around waiting to be parted out. But you don't know if you don't ask, and if places don't have a part you need, they might be able to give you a lead.

I would occasionally check sites like Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace to see if anyone is selling a car like yours. If it's in poor enough shape that it's not worth restoring, it might be worth your buying to get the parts. In other words, you might end up having to buy a whole car to get the parts you want, but then you have the whole car for more parts.

It's going to be a hunt. One thing you won't find is a vendor website with the exact parts you need listed where all you have to do is click a box to put it in your shopping cart, check out and pay for it, and then wait for the part to arrive. That's for people who own Corvettes and Chevelles.

By the way, can we see a photo or two of this car? There's an unwritten rule on this site that, until a photo is produced, it doesn't really exist.

Contact @jensenracing77 on this site. He has a lot of experience with Y-body cars and may even have some parts. If not, I bet he can at least point you in the right direction.

Also, there's a guy on CO named Craig who's very good with obsolete parts. I believe he's in New York, but I can't recall his user name. Maybe somebody else can chime in with it.

I know who you mean with regard to Craig. He usually wanders this site regularly and chimes in if he has something to offer. But keep in mind that all he's ever offered (in my experience) are mechanical parts, usually brake parts, and he's always advertising about how they're NOS. I've never seen him offer anything body and trim related.

The seat covers are available for the 63 model year but that is about it. I have nine 61-63 parts cars but most of my interior parts are not that great or already taken. What specifically are you looking for? Where are you located? I am in Brazil Indiana.

Most anything mechanical is available. All the engine and suspension wear items, transmission parts, brake parts are all easy to get or have rebuilt. Many of these parts can be a little pricy though. Shocks are a little tougher to find but people have adapted other shocks to them.

There is no one stop shop. WHICH parts you are looking for will determine the best vendor, however keep in mind that these cars are nowhere near as popular to restore as the 64-72 A-body cars and thus there is very limited repro parts availability.

Because of the mystique of musclecars and the mistaken belief that every midsize car built by Detroit in the 1960s was a "musclecar". Of course, today every F85 and Cutlass has been turned into a Faux-Four-Two...

Remember years ago, late 00's, someone deposited THREE '61-'63 BOP Y cars at the then new Albuquerque "self serve" yard on South Broadway. No idea of market, so left them be.
