Another newbie
Hi everyone. I'm Doug and am in North Dakota. I just picked up a 71 Cutless Supreme last week and am truly loving it. The interior is nearly perfect, and nearly all original (or at least I think so). The exterior is not too bad. Some rust around the wheel wells, especially the inner wells into the trunk, some minor dings, worn paint, etc. I believe the color is Palm Green as there is a #42 in the VIN. It has a white landau top.
I bought the car to have fun in and use as a daily driver, with body work somewhere in the future. At some point someone replaced the 350 with a 455. Man, what a sweet ride!
I am sure I will have a ton of questions in weeks to come. I am fairly new to working on cars (totally new to the concept of body work). The last car I had that I could truly work on was a 1977 Nova and that was back in the mid-80s.
I'll be happy to post photos as soon as I can figure out how?? I clicked the "insert picture" icon, but it asks for a URL address. I guess I'm used to seeing the brouse button and popping in a picture from my hard drive. Any suggestions??

Welcome to Classic Olds.
If you want to use url's upload the pics to Photobucket or Flickr if you have a Yahoo account, both are free.
I think Flickr is much easier to use, there are several sizes of the uploaded pic to choose from when you click "all sizes" with the corresponding url's, no messing around with editing. Just pick the size you want then copy and paste the url from there to the insert image or manage attachment deals here.

This is a great site to gather information. Lots of information in the different forums to help you with you build and lots of smart guys and gals to answer questions (I'm not one on them) Good luck
Attempt at posting a picture
This is actually my second attempt. I attached a picture and then hit the wrong key and logged off. I had originally thought the color may be Palm Green, but I noticed a tag under the hood and, I'm not sure if I read it right, but it has a 43 next to the PNT stamp. Could this be Mint Green? How do you decipher the tag anyway?

1966 Olds 98 LS continued
The car came with an interesting background story. A university math professor purchased the car new. A week after purchasing the car, he was driving a compact car he also owned. Someone ran a stop sign, hit him and he was killed.
1966 Olds 98 LS continued
An old friend of the widow, a retired truck driver, bought the car from her estate and reconditioned, adding trailor hitch, with the idea of using it to pull his trailor. Never got around to using it as such, and he traded it in, to avoid a family fight over which son would get the car.
1998 Olds 98 LS continued
I bought the car from the dealers used car lot around 16 years ago. It is loaded with all the extras sported by luxury cars of that time. I have enjoyed this car ever since, but unfortunately have not kept it up like the two previous owners. That's a lot of steel sitting in my driveway that I must decide what to do with. So I have come to the forum to explore options.
