Does anyone know how to adjust the doors so they will raise op just a little. They seem to be off slightly and when I close the door the metal from the outer lip of the door is rubbing slightly agains the start of the rear quarter. Is ther an adjustustable part of the hinge that will allow the door to be set a little higher. I have a 1971 Cutlass Convertible.

 

Probably just worn hinge pins and bushings. Most auto parts stores have them in stock. Can you lift the end of the door slightly when it is extended out? If so, they are worn. If not, then you do probably need to adjust the hinges themselves.

 

The catch bolt is adjustable on the post where door latches. You can adjust this up and it will compensate a little for worn hinges. Most have an allen recess for loosening with an allen wrench.

 

I personally think it's just a good idea to replace the bushings. It's not too terribly difficult and can be done over a weekend. Just make sure to mark where the hinges were located on both the door and the car body. This way, you won't have to spend much time realigning your doors.

 

Yes, I can lift on the ddor and ther is a little play. That is what seems to be the problem. I will look fo rthe pin and the bushing at autozone. Thanks
