72 Culass Supreme 442 Convertible
I am a new user to the Classic Oldsmobile site. Currently working on some electrical issues.....about that later.
This 1972 Cutlass was purchased new by my father inlaw. My wife drove this car from the family farm to high school when she was only 16.
The Cutlass was a daily driver for 16 years as it passed thru the rest of the family. After 16 years it was driven into the drive shed and retired.
I believe the story goes my father inlaw drove it out of the drive shed 12 years later and started a restoration on it. My father inlaw passed away
after working on it for 2 years and willed it to my daughter who has carried on with the restoration as $$$ permit and today it's probably 70% done.
My connection to the car at the moment is working on some electrical issues. I am just the grunt with his head under the dash.
With that said I am more than comfortable working with a electrical diagram and a multi-meter. Have found all kinds of great information on this site but I could really use
a wiring diagram for 72 Cutlass Supreme 442 Convertible. one I could get emailed to me so I could at least blow it up a bit.
I currently have that small 4 amp fuse marked instrument lamps with a hard ground on the away side of the 12v feed. Could really use a wiring diagram.

Welcome to the site, sweet story. The 71 and 72 wiring diagrams should be very close, especially for the instrument light circuit (gray wires). Here is a link:

Welcome and I'll echo the need for a CSM and Fisher Body Manual There are no electronic originals of these manuals, so any emailed copy will be a scan of an original, with detail lost in the process. This is especially a problem with diagrams like the wiring diagram that have tiny print. Spend the money, get your own original paper copy. Originals are on ebay regularly. DO NOT buy a reprint, as these will also be scans of an original with lost detail.

71 Cutlass wiring diagram
Actually, I did a search on my laptop and I found I have two '71 A-body wiring diagrams. The first is for a standard Cutlass with an external regulator, the 2nd diagram is for a 442 with in internal regulator. These will be very similar to the '72 wiring, they are attached below.
