69 cutlass s convertible
First post, new member / build thread / introduction
So I was at my uncle's for a Christmas get together and he started his '69 cutlass out in the barn for us like he does every year, but this year was different because he mentioned selling it. 72 hours later it is in my garage!
He owned it for 12+ years (he is gathering paperwork history for me so I have all of the details) and focused on engine/transmission/interior and top but not a lot on the body.
I'm excited to get a solid running project that I can enjoy while I continue on the path towards restoration. I will be a little more down the path of the restomod with eventual 4 wheel disc brakes, fuel injection and some larger wheels but I will remove/clean/retain any piece removed in case I change my mind down the road.
It has a rebuilt 350 bored .40 over with very little mileage on it, 4bbl carb and recent Turbo350 trans rebuild, it has been sitting a couple of years with regular starts but not a lot of driving so my first goal is to flush and fill all the fluids, check hoses/belts/brakes/etc and then drive it a while to get to know her before putting any work into it.
I'm new to Oldsmobiles but not wrenching on cars, most of my experience is in land cruisers (fj40s, fj60s, fj80s) and ford diesel trucks. I have a lot to learn about the classic Olds, the unique models and the good and bad areas to focus on but I wanted to introduce myself and say thanks to those that have posted before, I'm reading a lot and catching up from older posts.

Welcome to the best Olds site ever! Lots of people here with '68-'69 A-body knowledge and experience so, if questions come up, be sure to ask. And I'm sure you will get knowledgeable, correct answers. I surely did and it helped a lot!

Car acquisition stories are my favorite type of posts. It reminds me of all the car hunting adventures my Dad and I had. He was one of the first to produce a televised car auction (to my knowledge) and it was on ESPN back when ESPN didn't really have content. That year prior-to the show, he and I went looking for cars to auction on the show. We ended up with a 1969 Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Camaro which was like the 19th one made or something, and I think a 1966 Mustang Convertible. Possibly a 1969 Mach 1 as well. If you can imagine, it wasn't only the four cars that we found, it was the other 30 or so cars that we also had to look at.
Unfortunately, when he bought the Cutlass I bought from him, I was at summer camp that year. I can remember the phone call back home that week though.
