65Cutlass

Hello out there.Name's Dave. I just joined. I've been playing with Oldsmobiles for years off and on. Tough to work on sometimes. I'm playing with a 65 Cutlass 442 clone that someone has spent a fortune on, and then added propane to the mix. Guess they couldn't afford the gas with the 373 posi and the 455. I bought a parts car. It's a 65 F85 Deluxe 4 door sedan and I'm doing a come-apart on it. Putting the Cutlass back to gas and taking all the parts I need. Trying to sell off the rest, but very few of these cars left in Richmond/Vancouver area of B.C. Canada. Hoping to make some contacts here to sell off parts I don't need and maybe pick up the odd thing I might need. I see almost nothing for these cars for sale on E-Bay or CraigsList right now.

You might try 'High-Compression Oldsmobile' forum - they are 64-65 specific!

That would be www.ultra-hi-comp.proboards.com for the 65 forum.

When I get time, I'll check them out. I'm going to end up with an Offenhauser 360 dual quad manifold to sell when I start swapping over, and I'm sure it won't be easy to find someone that can use it. Be good to get some leads so I can bring some money back in !! Painful watching it fly away.

Hi Stan, we get over to the island frequently. We've got a place in Lake Cowichan. I was tempted to strip down these inner fenders and hood and recycle them to the scrap, but now thinking if nobody needs them, put them in the barn at LC and save them. The stuff is rusty but fixable. Don't like the odds of finding more if I should have a bender. What's the supply of used 65s on the island? Virtually none left in the lower mainland, not that I see anyway.

I probably will be, just not sure what yet. I bought a set of 14 X 7 Olds rally wheels, but they don't fit over the front discs. Might be stuck using my aluminum mags. Also missing the red light that goes in the dash. Got to remove the propane system and get it sold. If I knew how to post a picture, I gaurantee your jaw would drop. Dual propane everything, from tanks right to the Offy dual quad intake. Not pretty, but very busy under this hood !!

What were you finding for sale? The red 65 Cutlass? I just bought it a couple months ago about five minutes from where I am in Richmond. Can hardly wait to remove the propane and get the 455 back on gasoline. Hope I can find a buyer for the propane system. Lots of shiny stuff under the hood with doubles of everything. Got to rewire the whole car with the wiring from the 65 F85. All the Cutlass wiring was chopped and it looks like an explosion in a spaghetti factory.

Hey Stan, Do you know other people on the island with 65 Cutass? Just wondering how many are around here. I don't see any in the lower mainland, well, virtually none. I had a really nice 65 442 a couple of summers ago. It was nearly mint with a full load, yellow with black interior. I was going to keep it forever but someone was looking to buy my 65 Starfire offered me a ton of loot for the 442. Couldn't help myself, had to kiss it goodbye. Hoping I can fix this 442 clone up and nobody will want it. The urge to make money always seems to kick in.
