Cool 65 Starfire Newbie Carb Question

I am from Northeastern part of CT and have recently acquired a nice 1965 Starfire and it has a Rochester #7025255 Carb (original to the car).. I am trying to locate a set of brass floats for this carb and so far I am having no luck. The rebuild kits are available, however no floats. Does anyone have a set available or know where I can possibly get them??

Is it a 4 GC or a Q-Jet? I'd try www.cliffshighperformance.com and see if Cliff can help. He is an expert on Q-jets especially. I have talked with him about other GM carbs and he is able to get parts for some others, like 2 and 4 GCs

Thanks for the quick reply. I called Cliff and he was very helpful. Although he does not have the floats he said my best bet is to find an old 4GC and use the floats from it. I'll guess we'll be posting in the "wanted" area next.

At least on a 65 you have the option of using an Edelbrock or other modern carb if you can't find the 4GC floats. You may have to adjust the kickdown/switch pitch switch, but nothing like having to reinvent the wheel to make an early HydraMatic work with it.

1974 edition of Olds master parts book indicates 58-65 Olds 394 & 425 4GC all used the same floats. p/n 7011945 primary, 7012148 secondary. My Rochester carb catalog is packed away so I can't get at it easily.

Thanks for the help. We hope to keep the same carb but I'm glad to hear it should not be to hard to switch.
